It connects to Optimizely's Commerce system to integrate ecommerce and static page content into one platform. As a developer, we have full flexibility to create every customization that we require for our business.

Time to Value

Implementation took about 6-8 months switching from an in-house platform to full Optimizely Content Management System. It was difficult and time-consuming to upgrade from CMS 11 to 12, but with the CMS 12 .NET 6 version, this likely will only happen once.

BigCommerce and Shopify do not give backend access to databases or the code of the website itself. One reason we chose Optimizely Content Management System to have complete control of front and backend code rather than doing all customizations through a javascript API.

Having code backend access, Optimizely Content Management System gives more control than strict Saas solutions like BigCommerce/Shopify for ecommerce websites. There is enough documentation and examples of common use-cases to get started from an amateur or unfamiliar perspective. Optimizely Support is excellent and responds to complex issues quickly and professionally. Highly recommended.
