Overall Satisfaction with Procore

We are using Procore primarily on a project basis right now but it is rolling out within some of the various divisions of the company as we are trying out the platform.

We needed something easy to use and understand so that we could share current project information with the people in the field building our project, a streamlined manner of handling supplier submittals and RFIs. Procore has done this for our organization and more specifically for the project I work on.
  • RFIs - the creation and review of RFIs in a timely fashion is imperative to keep the flow of construction moving, with the control of who can create and generate RFIs as well as who they can be assigned to and by whom as well as email reminders of something the assigned party needs to take care of keeps everything flowing!
  • Submittals - this is still a newer are for Procore but they are rolling things out very quickly and always making updates. The ability to build out an approval workflow and control who can upload submittals is invaluable. The email reminders of something coming due is also a big help in keeping things moving along.
  • Meeting Minutes - I LOVE the meeting minutes tool, great way to keep track of all your meeting minutes and what things are still open for discussion from meeting to meeting.
  • Drawings and Specifications - I love that these tools help you with indexing all your drawings and specifications as you upload them. There are some minor issues with the OCR (for example, it confuses an I for a 1 all the time) but easily fixed.
  • Allowing more administrator control of who can do what. The permissions matrix is still too high level in many areas.
  • Easier bulk updating of submittals and more specifically submittal workflows.
  • RFIs don't have workflows, many times this would be a very useful feature.
  • Full reporting on all fields across all tools. For instance, I needed a report to show what drawings had RFI comments on them.
  • The ability to make sure everyone on the project is using the most current plans, specifications and documents is invaluable.
Procore, by far, has the more sophisticated means of dealing with RFI's and was one of the major components in our decision to use it for our project. It does an excellent job with importing drawings and specifications and I found the OCR functionality more reliable that Plan Grid. Comparing Procore to Aconex is like apples to oranges they have a very different approach to everything, Aconex is extremely rigid and has a high probability that someone may not be using the most current revision of any given document because of the requirement for documents to be transmitted to outside organizations to be visible whereas with Procore everyone is looking in the same pot to find things. You can restrict access using permissions if you have areas not everyone working on a project needs to see such as contract data and change orders.
Construction projects of many different sizes could benefit from the use of Procore. I could also see this being used for many other types of document management applications.

Our project has a complex schedule (in Primavera P6) and it didn't seem to translate well into Procore.
