Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
We purchase Read&Write for all students and use it as an access support. We have students and teachers with a lot diversity with their needs and wants. The tools provided by Read&Write allow learners to pick what they need when they need it. We have worked to normalize these tools and ensure that they are not viewed as a tier two or three support, but for all.
- text to speech (like the settings with this)
- speech to text (sometimes it has issues, but seems to be getting better)
- Picture dictionary (love that these are click and drag)
- Please continue to improve translation tools, whole doc and read aloud
- Please keep improving speech to text...sometimes updates seem to make this tough
- Please continue to work on Orbit Note, this tool has had quite a few login issues
- We have been able to provide supports for all students
- We have been able to focus on normalizing tools for all
- Tools are fairly simple to access and provides solutions for K-12
This is one of our district goals and the goal of our professional learning with our staff. We are all about UDL right now and these tools help us with many of our barriers and goals for our learners.
It seems that Google is working to add some of the same features within the Google suite which will be nice, however, it does not seem that they are focused on the same goals for learners, so right now, it does not compare fully.
