Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We use Sage Intacct for our back-office accounting, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, and billing. It is used across the organization. It integrates with our expense reporting tool (Expensify) and with various Quick Base applications through the use of Workato. We upgraded from QuickBooks Enterprise to Intacct in January 2017.
  • As a web-based tool, Intacct is very easy to access by a variety of users
  • It is very easy to get data in and out of Intacct, both via manual imports/exports and via integration tools. Intacct "plays nicely" with our other software applications.
  • The financial report writer is not the most powerful in the world, but it suffices for our needs. For example, it handles statements of cash flows easily.
  • "Smart Rules" provide good data validation functionality
  • Role-based security is powerful, and Intacct seems to be designed to enable good internal controls.
  • No ability to auto-print a memo on A/P checks. What the heck?!!!
  • Documentation for building custom invoices is not very good. We had to go to a third party developer.
  • No ability to cut a check to a customer for a credit balance.
  • Printing 1099s is somewhat cumbersome.
  • Although more expensive than QuickBooks Enterprise, we are much more confident in its scalability and data integrity.
Intacct is well-integrated when it comes to internal modules. Monthly closing is a streamlined process. Compared to other Great Plains, another package that I have previous experience with, it is significantly more efficient and modern. Having the ability to use a third-party integration tool like Workato makes it possible to integrate Intacct with a wide variety of other cloud-based services.
We use the project accounting module to do billing for our client assignments (we're a healthcare staffing company). This has proven to be much more reliable than the third-party billing package we previously were using. It also enabled us to eliminate a $500/month software subscription. We have two separate legal entities that we consolidate, and the multi-entity functionality has worked well for us.
A wide variety of integration options, including an API.
We evaluated Intacct against NetSuite and chose Intacct, primarily related to the professionalism of the sales team (or lack thereof with NetSuite). Intacct is a much more modern platform than Dynamics.
Particularly strong for companies with deferred revenue (subscriptions, etc.)
