Overall Satisfaction with Salesforce Analytics Cloud

Salesforce Analytics is being used as the primary means of analytical research and reporting visualization for the enrollment management division of Taylor University. This user-friendly product allows for non-technical staff to have immediate access to data and draw actionable insights from data visualization. The real benefit of this product is that it is built on the Salesforce platform, which enables native integration with all of our enrollment data at the hands of our entire team on desktop and mobile devices.
  • Non-technical set-up: ability to integrate Salesforce.com data right within the user interface
  • External data sources: upload non-Salesforce data via the built-in JSON data integration tool
  • Data Visualization: easy to create graphs, charts, and dashboards for regular multi-data set faceting and reporting
  • Integration: more native built-in integration partnerships
  • Export data and dashboards to Excel or PDF
  • Ability to drive back into an individual Salesforce.com account/contact/lead
Salesforce Analytics Cloud is in its infancy, but the fact that it is built on the Salesforce.com platform is a big plus for any institution/organization using Salesforce as its primary CRM. The ability to natively report and build analytics components on top of existing SFDC data is a huge plus without the need for any integration tools. Knowledge of JSON is also invaluable to integrate other data sources and edit the SFDC data upload.
Salesforce Analytics Cloud is usable across all industries, just like Salesforce's Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Community Cloud, etc. This product is best suited for a individual or team devoted to data analysis with a foot in business processes. Knowing the SFDC data architecture and business processes are a big plus for effective analytics research and reporting.

Salesforce Analytics Cloud Implementation

An implementation partner would certainly result in greater output in a more efficient amount of time. However, I have found implementation partners to be extremely expensive for the output received (at least working for a non-profit company they are frequently unaffordable). Internal implementation does help with usable output though since internal knowledge would better know the data architecture and business processes.
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled - Implementation was a sole-person effort so took dedicated time for about three weeks. Additional team members would have expedited output. I also did not know JSON prior to implementation so had to teach myself JSON while implementing. Expertise with JSON would be a great benefit for any team to implement Wave efficiently.
  • JSON knowledge (lack of)
  • Cross dataset faceting
  • Non-native integration with Marketo
