Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

At my organization, we use SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor (SAM) across multiple groups. We have customized views for the Windows Team, SQL team, Exchange Team, Unix team, and some individual users. This one platform monitors and alerts across our entire infrastructure.
  • We have simple monitors combined with alerts such as monitoring drive volumes and alerting the OS team when needed or the application owners depending on the drive.
  • We have a high priority DNS internal farm that is monitored, tested, and alerted if anything ever fails any of the customized tests.
  • One of the few issues I have is the user rights granularity. I would like a lot more options.
  • SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor does so much and supports so much automation that it frees up so many people from the different groups. It's easy to see the ROI.
SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is very powerful yet very intuitive. I've used a lot of other platforms, some cheaper and some which appear so fast that it must be magic. Yet those either are missing too many features or relies on stale data. SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is in real time. I can open up a remote process window directly from the page of the node I'm monitoring.
One of the best things I value about SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is that monitors and alerts are two different things, yet can be combined in any way one could imagine. One can even create alert templates and user alerting templates over and over across different monitors.
