Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

We deploy WatchGuard across 50+ sites to secure users, networks, and servers. We have historically used the Basic security suite, but have recently begun using the Total security as its suite of security features has broadened and matured. In addition to the rest of the suite, the threat detection and response has been a powerful tool to augment endpoint protection.
  • Threat Detection and Response is a powerful and easy way to protect endpoints even when they leave the network.
  • The addition of AuthPoint to the portfolio makes it easy for us to implement MFA in our environments.
  • Ease of set up and use in front of a powerful set of security features makes WatchGuard a no-brainer.
  • WatchGuard needs to expand its ability to centrally manage a multi-tenant environment.
  • Scheduling updates on individual UTM devices would be a welcome feature.
  • The web interface does not seem to be as user-friendly as the WSM and I avoid it unless I just have a quick change to make or am updating a device.
  • WatchGuard has prevented countless security incidents for users, saving remediation costs.
  • WatchGuard provides flexible content filtering to help keep users on task.
  • WatchGuard can be set up in a fraction of the time it takes similar UTM systems.
We do implementations and maintenance.
The thick client for management is my preferred method of management, maintenance, and troubleshooting. However, the web interface provides a better look and allows for easier graphical troubleshooting and system updates. Having to know which management interface to use for what task takes a bit of hands-on experience.
I am unfamiliar with Crownpeak Universal Consent Platform.
Purchasing a single package for hardware, support, and licensing is the only way I would consider buying a UTM device. Having purchased other manufacturer's UTM devices, I've their convoluted support and licensing structures aren't worth the headache. Renewing support and licensing is also a breeze whether I renew or take advantage of the trade-up program.
None of the other next-generation firewall appliances competed on ease of use/setup, feature set, and price as well as WatchGuard. WatchGuard uses best-in-breed technologies from expert vendors to run their individual security services where other vendors create inferior technologies in house. WatchGuard has also been easier to purchase and support over the long term.
WatchGuard Network Security devices are best suited for environments that need powerful, easy to set up network security at a reasonable price. Endpoint compromise has dropped drastically for endpoints protected by WatchGuard Network Security. WatchGuard also allows for feature-rich centrally managed wireless networks from the same management interface. No matter the network size, we protect it with WatchGuard.
