We feel secure with the lion watching us!
Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
We use Watchguard Total Security Solution in our office. It provides our network with perimeter security that is always constant and vigilant in keeping intruders out of our network. We don't have to worry about the perimeter- and are always protected. The fact that it is a subscription service and always updated, means that we do not have to worry about threats we don't know about - Watchguard does it for us and keeps us safe.
Pros
- We love the wifi security that keeps our wireless access points secure. Having an office in close proximity to other networks means that we have to be vigilant about our wireless security. With Watchguard our access points are safe.
- We love the artificial intelligence that Watchguard uses to protect the perimeter of our network from malware and viruses. We don't have just an appliance, we have a constantly updated device that protects us from threats as they appear.
- We love the anti Spam filter which has reduced the amount of spam we receive by over 90 %.
Cons
- Getting the subscriptions deployed can be cumbersome. There are lots of options to select from and it would be helpful to have an easy to use implementation menu.
- Sometimes too much of a good thing is too much. We have a lot of information coming over Dimension and it would be nice to have a Watchguard hosted server.
- Training is significant and our legacy technicians have been overwhelmed by the amount of information that they have to be adept at.
- In deciding to go with Watchguard, we had an offering that was our entrance into the MSSP space. One vendor/multiple products. It allowed us to reach our objective of going into the managed security space with a major component of our offering.
- Because it is one vendor, our time to train was reduced instead of having to do multiple training sessions with multiple vendors.
- Because it is one platform, our time spent in pre-implementation configuration was reduced.
This simplified packaging makes sense. It means that we are offering a complete solution based on existing threats and evolving threats. We do not have to worry about something we cannot foresee rendering our solution obsolete. We are not selling an appliance or a static device that can become irrelevant overnight. The fact that the total solution is easy to license makes it a no brainer to configure and provide.
