Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
We tried to take shortcuts previously in our network management and security with your typical store bought devices. The control, security and customization options just weren't there. The WatchGuard suite that we purchased allowed us to rest easy knowing that our office network is safe. The Geo-lockout ability was a huge benefit along with the built in VPN functionality. We have a few on-prem applications that need the occasional remote access and the WatchGuard suite made the implementation a no sweat process.

- Easy to setup and use VPN options for remote users
- Ability to block and filter certain network traffic
- A lot of features to configure that can seem overwhelming in the beginning but are simple once you start diving into it
- I might be missing where it is shown, but the Firewatch could display dns website names instead of the IP address.
- I might be missing where it is shown, but it would be great if a device that was connected to our wifi could be blocked more easily. Say the main office wifi password was accidently shared, we should be able to block a MAC address or sort of "nudge" it over to the Guest wifi instead.
- I might be missing where it is shown, but to set up a few internal routes for on-prem file share servers instead of having to write out the IP. Currently we have to edit the host files.
- We can rest more easily now, our previous solution just didn't give us that feeling
- I might not be seeing it correctly, but a feature to set up different blocked sites for different VLANs would be helpful
Implementation, we did on our own. We purchased through CDW. We have purchased a lot from CDW in the past and the process is always easy going.
Being that most businesses are hybrid now, being able to manage our entire security and network from any location has been a huge help. Being able to also manage it from either web browser or mobile device is huge. One major company that we tried before only allows you to access your network configurations from a mobile app. That is extremely frustrating! And the product features for security and general network config weren't even useful. They didn't allow for as much customization as WatchGuard
I wear the IT hat and the engineer hat at the company. So when I'm out doing field engineering, I occasionally get a call from the office that a setting needs to be changed for the network. The office doesn't have to wait until I'm back in the area to work on it. I can make changes from wherever essentially. Even if it's late at night and the office building is locked up.
WatchGuard stands it ground. As coming from a small business and only hearing the big networking names, I was surprised to hear the name WatchGuard. Looking at all of the different options, I will be definitely going back to WatchGuard for any future networking/security needs. Those bigger names just come with a huge price tag and annoyances. Support was tough to navigate, only the sales groups reach out for their yearly check. WatchGuard has so far left a g better experience. More personable.
