Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Webex meetings to securely meet with some of our customers, vendors, and consultants. It is a good tool with good stability and security that allows collaboration with individuals that may not have the ability to have a live in-person meeting.

Pros and Cons

Easy to access.
Minimal download for the client.
The client is user-based so Admin assistance is not needed.
Easy setup and configuration.

Sometimes the Webex download is a bit slow.
Does require a separate client that users must download manually if the download does not work.

Return on Investment

So far, we have only had Clients on Webex, with no hosting.
Cost is similar to other video conferencing services.

Alternatives Considered

Zoom

Webex has the security issues taken care of long before it was even an issue. End to End encryption was set up long before the other guys had it working for free accounts.

Reliability and Availability

Not had issues with Webex being "down" but have had issues getting updated client to load, which generally happens when I am in a hurry to get into a meeting.

Performance

Seems to work well. The only issue is with downloading client updates prior to a meeting. it would be nice if the update was downloaded during a meeting, then applied after the current meeting.

Likelihood to Recommend

We use several different meeting services depending on the customer or supplier. Internally, we use Teams since it is all routed within our secure perimeter, but for outside meetings, we are pretty split between Zoom and Webex. Zoom had some issues earlier with their encryption that Webex jumped on earlier in the process to eliminate meeting hijackings. Webex is a very stable platform with a good longstanding reputation.
