Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Xero for normal accounting processes and procedures, as well as communicating with donors who receive their receipts as customized invoices. I still have to customize the statements. We still have to decide how of if we will use the inventory module.

QuickBooks Desktop Pro and QuickBooks Online

Xero is easier to navigate and more organized in the way you navigate from module to module than QuickBooks Online. (Quickbooks Desktop was great). The help module and Xero Central are excellent and one of the best help features that I have experienced in any program.

Generally Xero is an excellent program. The inventory module, which I use for another company, in my opinion is not that good. The pay run module for salaries should also include staff leave tracking, i.e. leave due, leave taken and leave balance, categories of different leave.
