Acronis Cyber Backup Cloud

Acronis Backup Cloud is suited for backing up Windows Servers. Downtime is greatly decreased by using their virtualization options. You will need a Hyper-V enabled computer to virtualize, though, but this can be one of your general-use workstations. A Windows 10 Pro machine with 16 GB of RAM would do it for you.Or, if you have Macs that need to be backed up, you can do that as well. You can grab either full volume images, or files/folders.I can't really think of a scenario that you would not want Acronis Backup Cloud, except pre-Server 2012 OS's, since virtualization isn't supported on those older systems.

After some experience, I think that this is probably the best and most functional backup and recovery software available for the Windows platform. It's straightforward and can act as an insurance policy against disaster. Quite good for the price, to be honest. It has so far saved me from an absolute disaster twice, and I am certain to maintain the latest version for each of my PCs. If you decide to save your restore image to a USB drive, it will require formatting, so it's best to have at least one dedicated volume, accessible by plugging into a USB port, for the purpose.I purchased this software following my experience with Disk Director, which I still use, although I'm not certain that it's up to date. I've noticed that the 2020 version is available on the company's website, but that my software hasn't notified me that an update is available.

Cons

Acronis Cyber Backup Cloud

  • The fact Acronis is an OS client base backup, which leads to more backup failures. Although most issues can be corrected with restarting services.
  • Recovering backups from the cloud(internet) is a lot slower then acessing local backups.
  • The backup error reports are not detailed enough to help administrators fix issues.

  • Maybe price for the end-user. Some think it's kind of expensive for a household, given that they could have Clonezilla for free.
  • Better support for third party backup providers like Wasabi.
  • Better mobile UI.

The cost savings we realized from moving to this software has us hooked - it does everything we need it to do on a very high level (virtualization, for example) and is very low cost for us.

We seldom make use of Acronis support, but when we have they have been brilliant. All our engineers are Acronis certified, if they not able to resolve an issue, we touch base with our local Acronis supplier, Synapsys, who resolve issues 90% of the time.

Acronis Cyber Backup Cloud

We went with Acronis Backup Cloud because we're able to backup all platforms, not just PCs. And the price was good when it comes to all those options. It's a hard sell to clients, but when explained properly, the understand the cost of a good solution. It's like having good car insurance.

Even though it worked, still preferred the paid product because it performed better and was more reliable. Acronis has a well established name and reputation. When I started using it back in 2009, I used it as a free/eval product and because it worked so well then, I decided to purchase it. I have purchased an upgrade every so many years.
