Adobe Connect

Unfortunately, I think even if you ask all the appropriate questions during the selection process, you could still pick Adobe Connect over another product. I think that it's appropriate for our situation, but it lacks reliability and communication with its users. We never know of new changes coming up and when a problem occurs, Adobe Connect is not helpful in resolving the issue. It usually comes back as a user error issue, when that is definitely not the case in most instances. I think the software itself is appropriate as a simple Web conference platform to use if you want multiple speakers to be able to control the same presentation. It also provides pretty good reporting post-web conference. I think if you also want it as a "one stop shop" for invitations and reporting that way, it would work. Unfortunately, we use a separate system for that process, which doesn't always integrate correctly. Our attorneys like it because it's easy to use on their end as presenters, but I find as the host doing most of the set up and administrative duties, it's not the easiest software to use.

Trello

I recommend Trello to clients and collaborative organizations who need to manage any size project. For some, the freeform aspect can be intimidating at first but soon becomes an expectation of other software solutions. Trello is especially good for visual learns, visual-centric businesses and projects related to communications and social media. With the mobile app, Trello enables the nice interface features to work without the quirks of advanced web design on tablets and phones.

Pros

  • It allows us to present exactly how we want to present; We can share one PowerPoint presentation for all speakers to use during their presentation, allowing them to move their own slides. Allows for a cleaner presentation overall.
  • Relatively user-friendly once you're in your Seminar Room for your presentation. Attorneys seem to be able to use the software with ease.
  • Various pods in your Seminar Room allow you to set up your room exactly as you want it with the features you use most often or find helpful during your presentation.

  • Trello is more than a TODO list. If you use SCRUM or any sort of variant, Trello makes it very easy to follow along. The way that Trello is organized it works better than Dapulse or Basecamp.
  • Trello works with levels of organizational hierarchy. The most basic is a card. The card can contain links, files, checklists, messages, and can be assigned to certain people. The cards are placed and moved around on Lists. And a collection of Lists are called a Board. Trello allows you to use these levels however you desire.
  • Unlike Basecamp, Wunderlust, or Dapulse which are essentially virtual checklists, Trello does what they do just on the card level and way more. If you like to be able to take a step back and look at how projects are going, Trello is the program for you.

Cons

  • Overall support and communication from Adobe Connect is lacking. When new features come out, we have a lack of knowledge of what changes are actually being made. Mostly we figure out what the changes are based on our own experiences and usually something that goes wrong during a Web Conference. There should be detailed information that is provided to us when changes will be made and how to adapt our current processes with those changes.
  • Setting up a Web Conference is not intuitive with Adobe Connect. Even after using the product for over a year, I still refer back to the notes I took during my tutorial session. Making a mistake with one question in either the Seminar Room or the Event Management tab can create major problems the day of the Web Conference. The process needs to be streamlined in order to make the front-end process more user friendly.
  • Certain features of the room itself could have been better thought out before implenting across the board. For example, the rule of only 10 people maximum in a room until a certain point can actually cause major problems for users. There have been situations on our team where hosts and speakers have been locked out of the room right before a presentation. I think they need to listen to their users more in order to implement more changes with the software.
  • I think Adobe Connect lacks reliability. Many of our attendees and even speakers or hosts are dropped from the Seminar Room during our presentations. This is unacceptable during external client facing programs.

  • There should be a way of providing an easier shortcut to find a task that I'm currently working on at the current time.
  • Similar to the previous suggestion, there should be a way of tracking tasks by order of 'solved items'. Since sometimes it's difficult to remember by title or image hints some task that I might have worked on a couple of days before.

Adobe Connect has been instrumental in developing stronger connections in our classrooms (virtually and residentially), to our faculty across all campuses, and to all departments. It provides leadership the ability to share real-time information, documents, visions and plans and problem solve as a team. It allows all parties the opportunity to work together making connections in a virtual world

Usability

As sophisticated a product as Adobe Connect, the ease of use is outstanding. In my experience, even a user with very little knowledge of Adobe Connect can begin using and even leading sessions with very little training to get started with the basic features. Additional training is needed to become comfortable with the number of available features, but learning curve even for those is no steeper than would normally be expected from similar software.

It is simple to use to begin with, and very scalable but could do with some design improvements and additional features to make it the user friendly and usable level it could be potentially

For our small business, getting a few of us started well on Trello was the key, I think. As long as a couple of us were really comfortable with the interface, we could lead others and help them with any questions. From now on, anyone who works with us just naturally uses Trello for information sharing - it's just part of what we do.

Alternatives Considered

The best part of Adobe Connect is sharing the information with others who use this software. If you attend school and love taking notes through your iPad or Computer, you can share what notes you are writing with everyone in your classes. Also, it is a great virtual meeting place.

Redbooth is probably the most comparable product out there. I've reviewed this product and tested it against Trello. Redbooth is very robust with some additional very attractive features. It also integrates well with Google for business platforms and SharePoint. It works very much like Trello but with a lot of additional ways to report and track tasks. We chose Trello because it keeps everything simple and the price point was a better match for what we were looking for.

Return on Investment

  • The UI is very dated, integration with Eloqua needs improvement, meeting recording can also be improved, automated emails could be improved, event set up could be improved and audience engagement can also be improved

  • Help to assign tasks to my team.
  • Set time goals and with the control I can motivate them to finish the task quickly and reward them with nice labels.
  • It has references - with that I can unlock many more customizable options that make the experience much more fun.
