Agency Analytics

Agency Analytics is one of the best website rank tracking tools that I have used so far. I feel like it shows a great amount of insight into the fluctuation of ranking over time. This tool is extremely helpful for B2B marketing agencies where you need to be able to show progress to your clients. Also, the ability to see the results in a live SERPs page gets rid of the trouble of showing a client the live result when you're not next to each other.

Pros

  • I love the keyword "pool" system that Agency Analytics uses. We purchase a certain number of keywords (6,000) and then we can spread those across our accounts as we see fit. If we need more keywords for another company, we can remove them from an existing one without losing them. That also means that we can change keywords, add keywords, and remove keywords instantly from reports without waiting 30 days for them to re-run.
  • The customizability of the dashboard is new and awesome. We are able to create dashboard templates to use for our clients that shows exactly what we want it to. It also allows us to add text and links to explain certain aspects that might not be readily understandable to people outside the industry.
  • I also really appreciate the ability to send clients their own logins to the site. We add clients in as users to view their own reports at any time.
  • Agency Analytics runs results all day long and allows you to hover over the result to view more information as well as click to view the result in the SERPs.

  • The Explorer tool integrates with multiple keyword databases, so the results are more comprehensive and representative of the true search landscape. It also provides important insight into the environment that surrounds the keywords or topics you search for, such as the stage in the customer journey that keyword best fits or the level of competition within the SERP that you can expect to go against. These are valuable features when determining which keywords to optimize your content for.
  • Knowing where you stand in relation to your competitors is important for understanding your path for growth, and the Market Share and Rank Comparison features within Conductor Searchlight allow you to determine the areas you dominate and areas of potential opportunity at a granular level.
  • The reporting feature allows you to quickly and easily compile notable performance shifts and disseminate these shifts to your team, along with analysis and relevant context. Keeping the larger organization abreast of your efforts allows everyone to benefit from the optimizations you make, and Searchlight makes this process easy.

Cons

  • I wish that the monthly emailed reports were customizable like the dashboard and more interactive for the customer.
  • I think that there are some other things that would be neat to add, but aren't something that is "missing". For example, it would be awesome if we could have preset permissions for adding users to reports instead of needing to un-click everything we don't want the client to see.

  • I truly enjoy this platform. There was a learning curve when I first began using Searchlight, but the excellent and well-organized training sessions that Conductor provides alleviated the stress of mastering the technology.
  • Conductor has a massive suite of features, and depending on the needs of your business, you may or may not need all of these features. Identify the key areas of support that you are looking for, and work with the sales team to customize a solution that works best for you.

Seachlight is well organized and the interface is clean, but there is a significant learning curve that comes with first using the tool. This curve is offset by the excellent support that the onboarding team provides, and once you gain familiarity with the platform, its structure is easy to navigate and the features are simple to utilize

I love their chat feature because I can speak to customer service right away rather than emailing them. Either way, they are quick to respond and very knowledgeable with the platform. They're usually able to help me resolve the issue while chatting. In some cases, they may have to research something and get back to you but they usually do the same day.

Nothing could be as easier. If you have keyword lists you are already monitoring, they can upload all of those. If you want them to mine your site for some, they can do that. To get the most value out of the system you need to review your keywords, categorize them, and assign prime URL's. Those all take time on the client side, so be prepared to have to invest a little time yourself to get everything squared away unless you already have all of that data in a spreadsheet or something. I did not.

Alternatives Considered

We still use BrightLocal to build citations and show our clients their Google My Business ranking placement. However, I like Agency Analytics better for their website ranking tool. I also like that Agency Analytics allows us to add clients as users to their campaign. Overall, I feel that Agency Analytics is a better website reporting tool.

We tried SEMRush for a year. The experience is a mashup of noise and chaos with limited ease-of-use. Moz was the bomb-diggity but was limited in how we could collaborate and plan. BrightEdge was a grease fire. It's based on a legacy concept of what to optimize for increasing rankings. It also killed the excitement around content creation.

Return on Investment

  • Agency Analytics has made it easier for us to report to our clients on a monthly basis. With being able to add users to the campaign, it also gives the client a little responsibility to track their report on their own time if it's between the monthly emails. This has saved us phone calls.
  • Being able to updates reports in real time saves us money because other tools charge you each time you run the report. Sometimes changes are just "tests" and you may need to revert back to the original set up. With Agency Analytics, we're not charged extra for making changes.
