dbForge Studio for Oracle

Whenever a user or DBA wants to compare schematics between two environments, dbForge is extremely helpful. This is useful during version or framework upgrades, a database upgrade, patch implementations, service package implementations, or any time to environments would be different. The time it would take to write and execute queries, and then compare is exponentially longer than it takes with dbForge, where this is done and you have an application that allows you to quickly identify incongruities.

  • It is open source software.
  • No need to pay, free of charge product.
  • It supports big community of other android developers.

Cons

Android Studio

  • Unlike Eclipse, Android Studio has no concept of a workspace. Each window houses only one project. It's not very easy to jump between projects.
  • Android Studio isn't lightweight. It consumes lots of memory and takes lots of time to perform certain tasks.
  • I frequently see ignorable messages telling me that Android Studio has encountered an error (an error in the IDE, not an error in my code). I've never bothered to find the source of these messages because the messages go away quickly, and they don't keep me from running my code.

dbForge Studio for Oracle

  • The ability to parameterize searches more would be advantageous. For example, being able to specify to only look for certain columns, certain data type changes, etc.
  • The output reports from dbForge are very plain and could contain more detail, and perhaps be structured more like a pivot table form Excel

Overall support for Android Studio is quite good. As the project is maintained by Google itself, frequent updates are usually made to Android Studio to keep the IDE update and bug-free. Many community forums are also available to help developers across the world if they face any issue.

Although experience here is limited, as only one question has been asked and answered promptly, the registration and licensing process was very smooth and professional. There are forums online that discuss dbForge issues, as well as a Facts and Questions section on dbForge's website, so product support does seem to exist if needed.

dbForge Studio for Oracle

We found dbForge Studio for Oracle to be more stable and easy to use than both Toad for Oracle and RStudio, among others. There is still room for improvement, such as the MySQL debugger. In the past, we used MySQL Workbench, but the flexibility and robust tool set of dbForge Studio for Oracle won us over and there was no going back.
