Considered Both Products

Chose PaperCut
Printer Logic at the time was more complicated and more expensive to setup
Chose PaperCut
PaperCut was more user friendly for our higher ed situation and had a great sales pitch from the reseller we got it from.
Vasion Print
Chose Vasion Print
PaperCut is more expensive and need a print server. It is not feasible to be use at remote locations especially we have many remote sites across Australia with limited internet.
Chose Vasion Print
We selected Vasion Print because of its serverless approach. We want to move off-site with our IT infrastructure and this is another step in the good direction. Printing is also released more securely, requiring username and pin or release from a mobile phone. This coupled with …
Chose Vasion Print
we had PaperCut and it doesnt really have the ability to go totally in the cloud. Also one of the main reasons we switched is because no matter what we did, the PaperCut service would randomly stop working and we would get daily calls about it on the helpdesk.
Chose Vasion Print
Vasion Print offers a superior printing solution compared to PaperCut due to its comprehensive feature set and ease of use. While both platforms facilitate print management, Vasion Print stands out with its centralized printer deployment, eliminating the need for print servers. …
Chose Vasion Print
They function similarly although I did not test Papercuts cloud version. I trialed PaperCut more for their on premise version because it would be a one time cost instead of an ongoing fee. Still, we decided to remain with Vasion Print as it is provided through an agreement with …
Chose Vasion Print
Vasion Print is truly Cloud based, PaperCut infrastructure is hosted on windows servers in the back end, which as proved with the recent hack, is vulnerable and is not what we wanted. Vasion Print was one of the few companies that was truly cloud based and aligned with our …
Chose Vasion Print
We love Apple air print, but it is limited in its ability, and that you have to have the printer on a Wi-Fi network with the mobile device, and it only works with Apple devices. PaperCut is great also but I believe it's cost to benefit ratio simply were outmatched by what …
Chose Vasion Print
Vasion Print is much more granular and easy to use compared to PaperCut. You can work on a single printer without having to create printer profiles and other set up required by PaperCut. PaperCut may be cheaper, but you truly get what you pay for and there is no comparison …
Chose Vasion Print
Despite having a detailed audit for print jobs, there is no way built-in on PaperCut to re-send those jobs if they fail. The paper cut box doesn’t always pop up.
Chose Vasion Print
PaperCut actually has more features and works better than Vasion Print from a copier standpoint. In my opinion, where Vasion Print works better though is that it had better compatibility for our Apple Mac users. It also has a cool feature that lets you place printers on a map, …
Chose Vasion Print
It’s scalability and cost effectiveness was more amazing compared to it’s competitors.
Chose Vasion Print
Before I talk about how good Vasion Print is, I would like to highlight how poor TrustRadius site is. In the previous question, it asked me to identify other companies or products evaluated. Of the four other companies, which were all in the top 10, only one was available to …
Chose Vasion Print
Vision Print is a much simpler deployment and a better fit for our use case.
Chose Vasion Print
While I did tend to like the more in-depth reporting capabilities provided by Paper Cut, the overall ease of use, functionality, and Rapid deployment capabilities of Vasion Print heavily outweighs the perceived benefits of other printer Management Solutions offered by different …
Chose Vasion Print
We did a demo with paper cut but found that there was not the central driver repo and that was a deal breaker for us.
Chose Vasion Print
Pricing was better than all 3 competitors' proposals. Offered more features for all in one pricing instead of separating multiple features to jack up the price. The solution is owned and maintained solely in house minus the product updates. Consistently available no matter …
Chose Vasion Print
This was over 5 years ago that we evaluated the two products, so I don't remember the specific differences. However, I do remember that Vasion Print stood out as a clearly superior product and was also more cost effective, so that is why we chose it.
Chose Vasion Print
Mobility print struggled with some chromebook printing and also the adding printers option for windows was a bit laborious.
Chose Vasion Print
Vasion Print is far easier to use on the web interface, and is more compatible overall. We love the Map tool which lets our users see where the printers are throughout all of our locations with ease.
Chose Vasion Print
Vasion Print ticked all of the boxes when we compared other solutions.
Chose Vasion Print
Cost more, did less, required more infrastructure. Nope.

PaperCut Software
For environments that have multiple different departments or programs that would like to have printing costs tracked. The exact costs per page printed can be changed within the software - so exact costs can be calculated and billed back appropriately. It also makes printer management easier as you can see toner levels and any issues the printer may have remotely without having to utilize the printers GUI at all. Scan to folder/email options can be done on the admin side, so that it makes things easier for users

Great for users that frequently travel between offices. Users can log into their device and get the "local" printer installed based on their subnet. Alternatively, users can choose to send their print to their folder to be accessed on whichever printer they choose. It does this securely which is great for folks in healthcare settings

Cons

  • We would like to move all of our print accounting into Vasion Print, but there are some features we use in Pharos that Vasion is still building out.
  • The repository can get a little unwieldy if too many people are adding drivers. An internal check to see if a driver for a particular printer is already available would be a nice feature.
  • Direct authenticated release of print jobs from the printer device would be a nice feature.

Hands down one of our best investments for our IT staff. This has saved so much time and frustration and it well worth the cost. If the budget starts to gets tight, this is one of the last things we would cut out. We also purchased this through our copy machine vendor so it's nice that the charge is integrated with our copy machines lease

Usability
PaperCut Software
PaperCut is simply a solid product. PaperCut has been the ignition our company needed to take control of our budgets and also our carbon footprint. Through software we can manage our printing network with greater efficiency, reduce costs and enable our end users to take responsibility for their printing habits in a controlled way. The software is easy to deploy and integrates well with our windows based systems. We can easily delegate more advanced controls to power users and the controls are compatible with all major MFD hardware vendors.

Interface has been very easy to use and figure out. Reports to see printer usage is helpful in finding or relocating printers that are over/under utilized and can save funds on continually supplying printers where maybe better utilizing the equipment already deployed will provide cost savings. Being able to make a change in one place and that change is replicated to all devices has been nice and easy to do.

A colleague has reported a performance issue with loading printer profiles on Edge. It sometimes takes a very long time to come up, and sometimes not at all, but he switches over to Chrome, and the interface comes up very quickly. This might be a fringe case, since I am able to launch the same profile on Edge browser without any problems.

Support Rating
PaperCut Software
The user community for PaperCut is smaller than other products we use in HR, IT, marketing and project management. We had an account manager assigned to us. Whenever we had any issues we would email him. The account manager was acting as an interface with the developers and other teams. The response times were reasonable.

Whenever I've contacted Vasion Print support the responses are always rapid and thorough. The support staff is knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions I have. Most of the time we needed support was at the beginning of our implementation. Our account rep as well as technical support were skilled and responsive.

This doesn't apply since I haven't used another printer management tool, app, or system. Vasion Print is the only one we actually used here in our school district. I don't have the ability to select different companies or vendors, but with my experience with this software, it's been hands down the best. Especially for managing all of our copiers here in the school.

  • Mostly the only thing we deal with on printers now is the physical printer issues.
  • There were no calls about everyone's printers not working when the print server went down, as there is no print server!
  • Making it easy for the users to be able to install their own printer.
