Alteryx is the unique data analytics tool I have ever used or tested. Learning the tool is very quick, you can start to analyze as soon as you start to use. Maybe you cannot be a super analyst, but you start to analyze in 2 hours or less. You can save tremendous of time, automate many processes. It's cross platform and supports tens of databases which you can bring all together and start analyzing. Spatial Analysis, direct support R and Python, Machine Learning, Intelligence Suite and much more in only one product. I use it more than 4 years and I cannot live without Alteryx. If you're in the cloud, it is already supported. Thank you Alteryx and its developers who contributed to my work that much.
  • Data Analytics
  • Spatial Analysis
  • Machine Learning
  • reporting tool
  • connectors
  • sql script formatting
Definitely it is Excel replacer. No need third party SQL GUI tools, even it supports multi platforms at the same time. You can make automations, schedule to work hourly, daily, weekly etc...
  • It could be a little bit expensive to buy, but ROI is short
  • Saving the time a lot
  • Easy to learn
  • Great community support
  • Excellent tech support
Definitely yes. Nobody is perfect, but Alteryx does much better. Reported bugs should fixed quickly. Depending on your hardware, I can say the workflows runs smooth and fast. You don't need very high and fancy computer, but you should be reasonable. Working with data is not easy, and all it depends the complexity of the analysis. However, I'm confident and happy with the results and its accuracy.
My job doesn't require to use these capabilities that much. I'm not a developer and I can't write codes (R or Python) at the moment. However with Alteryx Intelligence Suite and or predictive tools help me analyze data science type analysis.
IMHO KNIME is not user friendly as much as Alteryx. Learning curve is long. Regardless is Open Source, the GUI is awful. To do same job in Alteryx you need to add many components and the configuration is very complex. Although the application is free, the server side is not.
I tried Tableau Prep and as soon as I started to use, I didn't like it. It works only for small data and basic data analytics capability. Even not correct to compare with Alteryx. It is even not Orange and Apple.
I can't say for other departments, but I know it's used for spatial analysis, sales and marketing, automation and governance.
I cannot provide any number. We are a large organization, and we have many Alteryx professionals.

No way. I don't even think about any other product rather than Alteryx.
  • Implemented in-house
Change management was a minor issue with the implementation
  • Data transform
I transformed repetitive works into the multiple workflows which saved a lot of time.
Support is excellent. I open a case if it's needed. Soon or later all the issues were fixed. Most likely until the issue was fixed, we work interim solutions. The support team is knowledgeable and they process every issues in timely manner.
I'm not sure we have premium support agreement or not. But depending the support priority, the follow up is very fast.
Yes
It depends on the bug. None of them was effecting the production. And depending the bug, I can say in 3 months or less.
there is no time, TIMES. All the time the support was exceptional.
Because 10 is the highest. Alteryx provides me all what I need on my daily work.

Incentivized
I gave consulting to enterprises using Alteryx to streamline their data to insight pipeline, it included finance firms, retail & cpg, manufacturing, airlines... major problems that are common were reaching out the multiple data sources and tumbling them which creates big tables, joining data and enriching... Alteryx was fast and easy on that... It has great geospatial capabilities as well. And good AutoML capabilities. Forecasting is a bit simpler than expected unfortunatley and optimization capabilities were small scale...
  • Good at sifting huge data on premises... It fits big data in your desktop
  • The productization of an analytics pipeline is extremely easy, lowcode, nocode...
  • New AutoML capabilities and it's implementation using Alteryx promote turns a desktop capability to enterprise scale...
  • It requires embedded BI with Natural language querying capabilities...
  • They introduced GenAI capabilities with lowcode nocode but the scope is a bit limited, it includes LLMS but not Stable diffusion like Image generators, and the timing was a bit late
  • Alteryx totally lack Event stream processing, both listening and small (device embedded) model deployment capabilities which are required in Iot or AIoT businesses
If you are an SME investing to Alteryx and get going with using and producing insights is X20 faster that SAS X5 faster than others. If you are a Corporate Marketing or Corporate Sales unit, A Retail & CPG developing models and deploying, getting ROI, AROI will be X10 faster and bigger that SAS, IBM Watson etc... If you are a FI like a bank or Insurance, you'll be limited in ROI's a bit enterprise scale support and automated reporting functionality needs to be improved, you need to couple with a Big 4 who is well versed in Alteryx like PWC or Deloitte...
  • Extremely fast ETL with minimal investment on Big Data platforms
  • Very fast deployment and scheduled use of models for sales ops, risk ops and similar...
  • There is an optimization capability as well but packaged solutions are limited... It bears great potential for ROI in routing, scheduling, pricing, inventory optimizations...
  • There is a forecasting capability as well it's limited, if Autoforecasting with hierarchies are introduced It bears great potential for high ROI in demand sensing and MPP demand forecasting...
Very well ETL pipelines and in-db calculations result in fast data preparations... May need better data quality and governance tools... Analytics capabilities were fast as well however better GPU usage is expected. Some advanced forecast were slow which required massively parallel processing and for that we diverted to enterprise forecasting software eventually...
We built with one of my customers, an NBFI, a cheque risk scoring algorithm (using Random forest and XGboosting algos) with high ROI, which earned IDC award in corporate banking. A good econometric forecasting model saved a Retail clients huge benefits like low inventories, better pricing, less out of stock... Scheduling capabilities coupled with predictive model resulted in self-learning pipelines from fresh dataset which is important for many companies today...
IBM is old school, deployment capabilites and automation capabilities lack compared to many market players... Also opensource integrations were limited. Alteryx is good on both deployment and opensource integrations. New versions, IBM WatsonX, is expected to be better the but it was expensive still would be compared to AYX... SAS is old school as well... It takes a SAS team to even install SAS viya properly a few weeks if not months... By this time you would have modeled and deployed the Predictive models and it would already proved their investment...

  • Locale should be setup and tested for Turkish and other languages

  • In-Person Training
1st level of trainings which I've attended in Paris was easy and I was already knowing %90, that learning could have been an e-learning instead of in-person
Very good, detailed online trainings which you can take at your own pace, and strong certifications exists, certifications are extremely detailed and hard...
Much better answers and faster than enterprise scale vendors.

As a consulting & Services company, we use Alteryx for many use cases and departments within our clients. We address every data, integration, and analytics needs with Alteryx.
  • Data Prep & Blend
  • Huge data volumes management
  • Easy to use
  • Integration
  • Visualization of the data
  • UI-UX (mostly in Designer)
  • OS independency (Today is only Windows)
Alteryx provides users with the ability to solve ANY data-related use case they might have, with a very easy-to-use drag and drop interface. Also, if you're are a tech-savvy user, Alteryx allows you to incorporate Python, R, or Scala code into your workflows, which makes the use cases you can tackle with it infinitely.
  • Shorter project development times (time to market for Analytics/Reports) - 1/3rd. of the standard times or more.
  • Improves ROI (We don't need to hire extremely advanced consultants, with specific knowledge anymore) - Cut 50% of the total payroll
Ease of use, Ease of deployment, completeness of reach, scalability, Total Cost of Ownership, Speed and flexibility
Alteryx makes data operations so easy. With a drag & drop UI, you can apply complex data manipulation rules with a couple of clicks, no code required.
Alteryx focuses a lot on providing enablement and support to their users, directly or via partners.
Alteryx has one of the best user communities I ever see.

Change management was minimal
At our implementation change management was not needed. But we found several use cases in customers, where it is needed (mostly with old fashion IT departments)
  • Permissions (weren't right at first)
Please, review your government policies and permission policies. Security relies on them (not on Alteryx)
  • No Training
Extremely easy. Today, there is a lot of material available for self-paced training, but taking a 2 days training will allow companies to catch up with the tool faster.
Maybe it need some customizations (to improve productivity even more), but overall is great.
Alteryx by itself doesn't require much of a config, but you should have your permissions and acess policies (to databses, network shares, AD, etc.) well defined, in place and updated.
Yes - we have customized the interface extensively
Very easy.
Yes - we have added extensive custom code

Yes
Yes, it did (considering "timely fashion" within the standards of the software development industry)
We had a customer with some issues trying to connect to a cloud database. Alteryx involved engineeres and developers, until we found the issue and finally solved. It took a week of tests, but we did it.

I am the sole user of Alteryx at Office Depot and it has become critical to just about everything that I do. In a nutshell, tasks and projects that would take the use of sometimes several programs (GIS, Access, Teradata, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and many hours, if not days to complete, can now be done in many cases using just one program and in a fraction of the time. Alteryx has made me incredibily more productive and efficient at my job. Though I have the only license in the company, there is definitely a huge opportunity for it to be used across the organization.
  • Spatial analysis in breakneck speed when compared against GIS. Add to that some pretty comprehensive mapping capabilities. My MapInfo Professional GIS is used less and less.
  • The incredible speed at which it reads and processes data (spatial and otherwise).
  • The ability to read and write in a multitude of formats: from Excel, Access tables, Tableau and Teradata to MapInfo, ESRI, Google Earth, etc. The flexibility is awesome.
  • Fantastic customer service with a live expert that answers everytime.
  • Creating maps can be a challenge sometimes as the process can be time consuming, and depending on the complexity of the map, it can take learning some nuances about the program.
Great for working with huge sets of data (and small sets too). Very well suited for geographic and data analysis. Fantastic for combining data from multiple sources into one and writing data and reports out to Excel, PowerPoint, Access, text files and even several GIS platforms. It is easy to write out data to multiple files/slides/databases (and I'm talking thousands of files if necessary). Can produce great looking maps when the time is put in. This program would not be appropriate for companies with only small datasets. The program can be expensive but I understand that they recently tiered their products at different price levels.
I haven't used anything that is similar to Alteryx. MapInfo, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teradata, etc. can only do their individual thing. Alteryx can do many, if not most (but not all) of the functions that these other programs can do. And much faster.
Alteryx has become integral to my job and to the expectation of upper management. They have now become accustomed to the lightening quick turnaround that Alteryx can provide. Not renewing Alteryx would take our department, and me, back to what would seem like the dark ages. Additionally, Alteryx (the company) is very aggressive in improving and upgrading Alteryx (the program) on a continual basis. It is very clear that they are in constant search for new features, capabilities and improvements. They do not rest on their laurels.

Spatial and data analysis and a good understanding of relational databases and GIS.

There is really not much to it (the installation, that is). Once you get it installed, along with any of the add-ons (demographics, R, etc.), you are up and running almost immediately. There is really no additional setup. You can immediately begin blending data, running demographics, performing spatial queries, running predictive analysis, etc. And for many of these functions, the learning curve is quite easy.
They are very friendly, very responsive and very knowledgeable.
Incredibly easy to work with, flexible and practically flawless.
I use many programs and compared to others, Alteryx virtually never goes down, freezes up or gives an application error. Over a 4 year time period that I have used this program, any of these may have happened 3 times. It is an incredibly stable program that I feel completely confident in.
