Pega can be addressed as BPM engine, Thanks to its powerful integration mechanisms; with its vertical customization (Insurance, Claim, etc...), it allows a very positive experience in a more complex end-to-end experience. I think that Pega has to enforce its CRM features and CPQ.

Pega is well suited for case management applications. In most organizations where robotics and AI are used to streamline workflow processing, Pega fits in perfectly well to run workflows combining these together and delivering a better customer experience. Pega's case management helps in process reengineering. When it combines with Analytics, the decisions made are contextual and relevant. Robotics helps to automate a large chunk of manual processes and combined with AI all these offer the best customer experience.

I think case management is place where it suits a lot whereas using Pega as services etc., is not of great use. PEGA's NBA platform is also excellent. Pega provides very specialized frameworks which are easy to use and can be extended easily. It's the right tool for agile development. Pega's DCO feature is very helpful to manage requirements and keeping everyone on same page. But the document management etc., in DCO needs enhancement.

Pega 7 does not provide good analytics and reporting capability. But it is very good for linear calculations with simple workflows where business users want to maintain control without much technical team support. It is not a complete business process management solution and needs more improvement for enterprise level capabilities.

It is not a particularly well suited application for Regulatory and Risk Organizations, with special tailor made needs for different portfolio risk assessment. It becomes extremely complex to integrate, when idiosyncratic data needs are needed and firm specific computations become a base norm.

The software however works well for UI platforms and is a good user interface tool.

You really need to see if the work you are trying to manage the flow of makes sense to model as a case. Our department is modeling some things as cases that I'm not convinced need to be modeled that way. Our use cases aren't as straight-forward as something like a financial transaction (in terms of well-ordered steps). Pega is made to handle alternative flows that vary a lot but it is dificult to wrap your head around modeling it to work properly in Pega.

Rapid application development for small to medium sized teams is ideal for its use. I would not recommend using the tool in a large scale enterprise environment. The heavy data driven nature of the tool resulted in many performance issues and the scalability of the applications written in the framework were limited. Also, experienced Pega people are very expensive and difficult to find. Ensure the build up of talent within the organization is taken care of, or they will leave.

Easy for simple UI built.
Limitation to work with PDF, Word etc.. documents, they can't be updated once object created.
Not easy to work and need custom coding if multi chid cases created from parent for sync.
