We use Zix's hosted option to provide encrypted email for HIPAA/PHI security and compliance for our Employee Benefits practice.
- A lot of our clients, carriers and partners use Zix so that communication is automatically secured.
- Hosted approach means no on-prem point of failure.
- Host approach means no upgrade responsibilities for corporate IT staff.
- Zix support is severely lacking in both response and follow-up.
- Several outages that were basically sluffed off by Zix. We had bounce messages for all outbound connections. After several calls and portal support tickets, we finally got a message that it was working again. But no followup or RCA.

Zix Best Security for you employees
The whole organization uses Zix. We have multiple departments and two different businesses in our location. The law firm uses it when they submit private documents to their customers. The Escrow office uses Zix whenever they are exchanging documents between the office and the lenders involved in the closing process and also with the realtors. Title agents use it when sending policies or any form of documents that are not public record.
- Easy to use for our employees and the receiver of our emails. With just the click feature and simple login, we are able to use Zix pretty easily.
- Provides exceptional security to everything we send.
- The receiver of our emails, enjoys the fact that it is simple and easy for them to create a login and open their secure email that we have sent.
- The installation was a little confusing for some of the employees, but once installed it was easy to access.
- I wish that we didn't have to login every single time we have to send an email through Zix. Maybe just once a week or even a remember me feature so that it is automatic would be nice.

To Zix or not to Zix----that is the question!
We are using Zix across our entire operation. Zix does a thorough job of addressing our need for an encrypted email solution.
- The lexicon is easy to customize to your needs, so what might be prohibited words in one industry could be acceptable in another, so you aren't locked in to a "one size fits all."
- There are no gray areas with the parameters set for acceptable email.
- Occasionally, users will get a rejection notification regarding a message they've sent, but they aren't sure WHY the message didn't meet acceptability standards.

Zixcorp Zix Review
We currently use Zix for all of or employees. We send out data that needs to be secured a good bit and Zix by far was the easiest way to get this done. End users get the ability to send encrypted or unencrypted using the ZixSelect buttons. My favorite feature is if an attachment has any specific data deemed sensitive (by your preset input) the attachment will automatically encrypt. This allows full confidence in attachments being sent correctly.
- Love the ZixSelect buttons for Outlook. Its a plugin you install that gives users the ability to send email encrypted or unencrypted.
- Automatically sends attachments encrypted using predetermined rules.
- Improve on the Zix portal experience for the email receiver.

Corporate Zix Email Encryption solution
Zix is our corporate supported solution for secure email delivery to external recipients (customers and business partners) where an enforced/required TLS connection is not available from Principal Financial Group mail hosts. Secure email delivery is required for any external outbound email containing Personal Identifiable Information including US-SSN and PCI-DSS data.
- Secure email encryption with options to deliver using TLS if available and implementing a portal delivery as last option.
- Recipient ease of email delivery with message indicators for the recipient that the email was delivered securely.
- Portal allows for custom branding for the recipient to understand the email came from our company and not some generic service.
- Zix's cloud hosted application gives us a hands-off option requiring minimal technical support of the secure email service.
- Allow customer access to modify portions of the Zix cloud hosted systems for minor configuration changes.

Zix tracking and protection
We use/implemented Zix for the purpose protecting the confidential information of our customers. Our industry is highly regulated and requires the protection of the information we obtain and distribute. The "read receipt" notification is incredibly helpful in tracking who has (or has not) read their email. For the most part, Zix is very user-friendly.

Zix and ZixOne are both Great Products
We utilize multiple Zix products across our entire organization. Zix provides us with secure email solutions and helps Guardian protect our valuable customer information.

- ZixOne gives us flexible device management and secure email for our Guardian colleagues to utilize on their personal devices.
- A more modern design on the customer facing Zix secure email gateway would be nice.

Zix is the Fix
[It's being used] across whole organization. We communicate with lenders and clients, exchanging NPI encryption is a must.

- Our biggest problem - not retrievable on mobile devices. We are a mobile company. If there is a solution to this, I'm all ears!

Zix for the win
We use Zix across our whole organization. We needed a solution that both the public and our lenders could not only use but would be easy to use. We have tried about 4-6 different companies but ran into issues with either ease of use or our lenders would not use/trust [them] or the public had problems. Zix was our first true solution that took care of any and all issues.
- The encryption process is as simple as pressing "Send".
- The emails our customers receive are simple to navigate.
- If we are emailing a current Zix customer the encryption process is transparent.
- Admin control is almost non existent. Have more control of my account.
- The ability to create/edit our own rules for encryptions versus having to contact support and submit a ticket and wait for the add or maybe a question.
- A better option to encrypt PDFs, I understand you cannot scan a PDF for text. But since we are only allowed one rule (enable all attached PDFs to automatically encrypt) We are forced to choose the lesser of two evils.

Zix is Great
We use Zix on 4 of our domains. Being in the Real Estate industry we have to use Zix for email encryption for secure document delivery. Zix is used by all of our 40 employees.
- There is minimum maintenance. The setup was easy.
- We had Barracuda before and our clients had to login to a portal every time. With Zix there is a lot less of that which also creates less password reset requests.
- We also like that we can set what we want to encrypt. Attachments, keywords or data.
- We haven't had any problems that I can think of to improve on.

Simple to use and now I sleep at night
We use ZIX on ALL company email. This allows us to keep secure any personal information in any communication. Most importantly, Social Security Numbers, loan amounts, addresses, Driver License information etc.
Using ZIX not only provides secure communication but it enhances our ability with regard to keeping private information - Private.

Zix Gateway is a solid product
Currently Zix is being used across our organization for external email encryption containing any NPI data. All external emails go through our Zix Gateway and auto encrypts by keyword and also automatically when our DLP triggers the need.

- A better GUI experience

Securing communication with Zix encryption secuirty
Zix is used by the entire organization for securing outbound mail primarily for regulatory and data security purposes.
- Zix has a big presence in the healthcare market both in provider and payer space. It can be used to securely exchange email seamlessly via Zix-Zix, and can be considered selective TLS.
- Robust lexicon to detect and secure email content based of identifiers and keywords.
- Ability to create whitelist and blacklist for enforcing portal, override TLS in cases where BA challenges prohibit sending PHI. For example, Gmail.com etc.
- Better integration with other DLP solutions
- Integration into leading SIEM products
- Better reporting tools

Zix Makes Securing Email Simple and Effective
We use Zix to secure sensitive emails that contain customer information such as account numbers and other personally identifiable information. We are also required by policies and regulations to do this for certain transactions.
- Zix secures emails easily by simply adding the word 'secure' in the subject of an email and then sending it.
- Zix also automatically secures email that should be sent securely, for example a user sends an email with a social security number it and doesn't put 'secure' in the subject. Zix detects this and sends the email securely.
- Zix was easy to set up. We spent about 2 hours with their support team getting it up and running. It has been trouble free since then.
- An Outlook plug in to send secure emails might better help users send securely.
- Better support for OS level updates on the Zix virutal appliance is needed. While Zix releases periodic updates, I do not see OS level patches getting installed or addressed.

Best Product for Healthcare
We use Zix's cloud product to secure and encrypt our email. It is used for all mail within our organization. We needed a way to easily securely manage email, that did not require significant intervention by staff. We also needed a product that worked in healthcare - included and maintained the lexicon that was required to remain compliant in healthcare. Last, we are moving the O365 and found that the Microsoft offering did not have all of the functionality that we had with ZIx.
- Works with on-prem Exchange and Exchange in the cloud
- Requires minimal training to staff for use
- Automatic trust with other companies using the Zix product which is prevalent in healthcare
- For the cloud model, allow on-prem admins additional functionality in the console
- GUI console needs to be updated

Encrypting only what is needed
The organization uses Zix. We currently use it to encrypt all outbound emails. Due to the sensitivity of our information being financial we are required to have a system to encrypt outbound email. Now, we don't force encryption on all outbound emails, but only those that meet certain criteria.
- Transparency with other vendors and companies using Zix, for it allows us to communicate with them in an encryption manner transparently.
- Lexicons - These are very helpful in creating different policies for different requirements in our various departments using different types of sensitive information.
- TLS! Using ZixDirect is extremely helpful to communicate in an encrypted manner with third-parties enforcing TLS.
- Reports!
- Better OCR!
- Update Zix Gateway interface to a more modern look!

Love the product
It is being used by the whole company to manage our email encryption. We purchased it with several other centers which partner with SyCare.
- First off being Linux based the underlying OS needs little maintenance and never needs to be rebooted.
- The web interface is intuitive and has several options for configuration.
- The upgrade process is super easy, run the ISO and go.
- Great customer service, reach very knowledgeable people.
- Customer service number is hard to find when you have a serious problem.
- Could allow more control over the server OS
- Needs a updated UI for the webpage

Zix secure email solutions made it easy to do the right thing and hard to do the wrong thing.
Alameda Health System is using Zix throughout the organization to allow sending Patient and Employee information securely. AHS IT has a philosophy of "make it easy to do the right thing, and hard to do the wrong thing". Zix helps us do that through it's policies to allow users to use tags in the subject to encrypt the messages, but also scan all outbound emails for HIPAA privacy and other regulated content to automatically secure or prevent sending of information. Incidental email of PHI was identified as one of our highest risks, and Zix has made it easy to reduce that risk for our organization. Including setup and training we were operational within one week.
- Easily integrated into our existing mail flow. It was very easy and non-intrusive to setup.
- Immediately reduced the risk of HIPAA privacy and other regulatory content from being sent unsecurely.
- Provides a way to easily get reports, track, and ensure email with PHI has been sent securely.
- Implementation was great. The blue "sent securely" banner can be a little annoying, but it is good to let the users know it was sent securely. Would like option to customize it.

Great product for some, but not for all.
We purchased the Zix service to augment our security stance in the encryption arena. We were using Proofpoint on the MS Exchange side, and needed something to match those features when switching over to Gmail. This was used in a pilot group with the intention of using it globally if testing went well.
- Zix works great if both the sender and recipient are users of the product.
- Zix does not provide a user interface to make administrative changes on the fly.
- The turnaround time for requested changes were too slow for our environment.
- We had several problems with users that were unfamiliar with the product.

Zix Review
Zix is used across the organization to detect protected health and financial information in email and encrypt it if found.
- Zix does a good job of detecting protected health data. Detection is accurate.
- Zix takes the responsibility out of the end users' hands. Detection is automated.
- Zix is easy to maintain and requires little attention.
- Zix does not allow individual admin logins.
- There is no real-time dashboard monitoring of messages.
