Overall Satisfaction with UserTesting

In marketing, we utilize UserTesting to better understand our prospective students and their needs, as well as understand how different concepts, designs and messages might appeal to them.
  • Qualitative data from our target audience
  • The "why" behind users' actions
  • Deep insights into our customers' mindset
  • Exploration - finding new points of view, bringing in VOC
  • Onboarding is hard without a qualitative background
  • UserTesting has helped us understand how customers interact with our site, and what barriers they face. This has helped improve the UX of various aspects of the site.
  • UserTesting has helped us understand how certain concepts or ideas or perceived by people in our target audience, and discover ways to more effective reach them.
UserTesting researchers are amazing! They understand qualitative methods and how to get the biggest impact from a test. They sometimes struggle in training. Overall a positive experience.
Recruiting is incredibly simple and painless with UserTesting. If for nothing else, this is a great reason to go with UserTesting. Also their analysis tools and metrics, as well as templates and ability to save questions for reuse makes test setup and analysis more efficient. UserTesting helps me focus my time on research instead of the logistics and mechanics and admin behind the research.
We have been able to put our ideas in front of our target market and get their unbiased feedback. Sometimes they agree with us and help guide final edits. Other times, we learn that we were off track and sending the wrong message. UserTesting helps us move away from long debates internally of "what do you think the customer will want" to "let's just ask them".

UserTesting is qualitative. So, if you are looking for qualitative (the "why") insights, UserTesting is amazing. If you want quantitative data, UserTesting will not be the best resource.

Some examples:
Use UserTesting for: concept tests to understand how users react to concepts. Gain feedback from target audience similar to a focus group. Ask participants questions and even have conversations with them about your idea or product.

UserTesting would not be as helpful for: AB testing, or gaining a statistically significant winning option. Gaining quantitative data. For this, an AB testing platform or survey tool would be better.
