Overall Satisfaction with Buffer

A constant social media presence is a must for our industry, but being a one-man marketing department on top of other various responsibilities, it is more practical for me to focus my energy and create social media posts at once and schedule them to be sent out in the next few days. Native post scheduling was only available on Facebook across all the social media sites we use, and even then the functionalities are limited at best. This is where Buffer came in and solved the scheduling problem.
  • Supports most major social media websites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
  • Supports direct posting for Instagram.
  • Drag-n-drop to change the post orders and schedules.
  • Constantly adding new features. Instagram story posting was releasing for example.
  • Transparency throughout the service, pricing/roadmaps, etc.
  • I like how the composer gave us the option to customize the content by platform after common text is finished. This is useful for hashtags, links, etc.
  • The limit for the amount of photos (4) is lower than the native platforms.
1 - This tool would be suitable for any social media marketer. Since it is intended to save time by creating posts in one go, I see it being very useful for entrepreneurs or small teams. For larger organizations, they also support team members where content can be approved before sending to the queue.
  • Since we use it more for organic reach, the value comes from the time saved for creating and scheduling content in one go across different social media platforms.
As stated in a previous point, for basic content scheduling Buffer offers simplicity and stability like no others. It doesn't have the Instagram-specific features like Later does, the evergreen content categorization and sending like MeetEdgar, or the ad campaign integration like Hootsuite. Unless these features are core to you, then I can't see someone choosing them over Buffer as it offers a lot for a very small and reasonable price.

At one point we were using Buffer and MeetEdgar concurrently.
For basic post scheduling you really can't go wrong with Buffer. I have tried other similar softwares time and time again but always end up coming back to Buffer. The simplicity in design and general stability are industry-leading in my opinion.

If Instagram is the platform of emphasis, there might be better softwares out there. But Buffer is definitely catching up in the supported features of Instagram.

For marketers looking to promote evergreen content and even categorizing posts, Buffer might not be the tool for you. They used to implement a content library feature for this, but it has since been discontinued.
