Overall Satisfaction with Whereby
I've used Whereby off and on at this company and my previous company (when the product was called Appear.in). In both cases, we have used it as a sort of "gap" filler solution for ad-hoc meetings. In both cases, we had other core teleconference solutions that we used for "bigger" more official purposes. Whereby is a nice solution because it doesn't require an install, and pretty much just works.
- Great, simple UI.
- Very high-quality video. Better than Google Hangouts (or whatever they call it these days), and I consider it a comparable product.
- The paid version may have dial-in. But I have always used the free version. Dial-in is typically required for an "official" multi-purpose teleconference platform.
- I did have some trouble with larger groups (5+) when it was Appear.in but almost always use it for small 1-on-1 or 3 person meetings.
- Considering it was free - great ROI. It fills a gap.
- I never evaluated replacing our core teleconf system, so can't speak to how well it would function as a stand-alone, all-in-one system.
I don't know that it is an apples-to-apples comparison because in most other cases I used these platforms alongside Whereby. The best direct comparison would be Google Hangouts. With Whereby, I think the video and audio are superior, the UX is superior, and it's just a better experience.
