Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SurveyMonkey on occasion to administer client satisfaction surveys. In the past, we've also used it for employee satisfaction. It's a very user-friendly application that enables us to quickly create custom questions in a variety of formats and offers solutions for easy analysis of results. It also enables anonymous participation.

Alternatives Considered

Google Forms and Typeform

SurveyMonkey has the most options in terms of available question formats, analysis and participant tracking, and customizability. Google Forms is a more basic interface with fewer options for tracking and analysis, and Typeform is better in terms of design and branding options but lacks options for formatting questions and logic.

Usability

SurveyMonkey is super user-friendly and leads the industry in terms of easy-to-use question design, survey logic, and easy-to-digest analytics. Other tools are more specific to one feature or another. SurveyMonkey is appropriate for a very broad range of applications, from customer satisfaction to employee surveys.

Support Rating

I've not ever had to use SurveyMonkey's support but considering it is a leader in the space, there are many resources and tutorials widely available.

Likelihood to Recommend

Survey Monkey is certainly the industry leader for the custom online survey space. For general clients or employees, the survey needs to use common question formats like multiple-choice, short answer, long answer, ranking, etc., it fits most use cases. For UX research where you're looking for more web design-specific feedback, there are probably some better tools available.
