Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Marketo Engage
At Zoho corporation we use Adobe Marketo for driving our prospecting efforts (cross sell and up-sell existing customers, and add net new logos). We setup separate marketing campaigns for based on the geography, product interest, and industry. With Marketo being highly customizable marketing automation platform, it allows us setting different buyer journeys, scoring, and personalized marketing campaigns based on the prospect segment all through a single platform. We also use workspaces and partition feature in Marketo to divide our marketing campaigns and audience respectively.

- User Experience can be improved a bit. When I click anywhere before the smart list gets saved, the screen freezes and we have to manually refresh the window to fix that. That is sometimes so annoying.
- Icons should be updated. A glossary of icons should be provided within the platform as well
- The product misses on the ability to add custom object records via smart campaign flow
- Usage of tokens should be enabled in the smart list
- Target Account Management should be updated with better reporting capabilities as they charge extra for that module above and beyond the base subscription

We use Marketo for driving all of our marketing initiatives. We have a dedicated marketing framework that includes email templates, marketing program templates, customized lead scoring and journeys for each of our initiatives (i.e., cross-sell, up-sell, new business, and retaining existing users). The important requirement for us to have all of our models created and setup with their separate assets/program as each is managed by a different marketing team. Marketo helps in effective segregation of each of our marketing models all within the single platform.
Before having Marketo, we used to have sendgrid and Mailchimp for sending out emails and Pardot for lead management. This setup worked for us okay, but it had a lot of moving parts and was prone to fail as we scale. Due to certain compliance and privacy requirements of our company, we weren’t allowed to send our marketing emails from the same vendor as the one we use for managing sales data (Salesforce) hence we had to use other platforms for sending out marketing emails. Pardot was not as comprehensive and customizable as Marketo for lead management and third-party integration capabilities. With Marketo, we have got everything Marketing related working and setup in one place which is great for scalability and overall operation. Additionally, from a pure email marketing perspective, we have experienced better delivery rates and Email domain reputation management with Marketo than sendgrid and Mailchimp.
