Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Asana to manage a large project. It helped us to keep tabs on who was doing each piece of the project, their individual due dates, and how far along each person was in terms of progress for all of the different pieces. It also allowed us to communicate back and forth about the project and have everything in one place rather than trying to dig through tons of emails to find the information needed.

For the project we used Asana for, we were able to manage all of the individual parts successfully without having to tie up any of our managers' time.
It also helped to keep employees on task and meet their deadlines.

Alternatives Considered

Basecamp

Basecamp is more for individual work tasks and it fails to provide an overall bigger picture of how the project is going as a whole. I like Asana much better because it gives visual cues to let you know whether you're going to hit a deadline or if there are bottlenecks in the process.

Asana is an amazing tool for project management. It has several templates to ease getting started. There are a lot of different views so it is easy to get an overall big picture of where things are in the queue or you can do a deeper dive pretty easily and see where there might be bottlenecks. I also like that it keeps all of the communication in one place so we're not having to dig for relevant emails. I do wish it had features for budgeting and that it was able to handle graphics better. Right now, it is just a file upload but it would be nice to be able to see thumbnails at least.
