Overall Satisfaction with Avalara

Mostly it is being used to determine the taxes for each transaction and to do the reports for each state.
  • They submit all state reports when they are supposed to be submitted.
  • Not always the best at follow up when a situation is going on.
  • No longer need to have 1 person completed dedicated to getting everything reported correctly and timely.
  • ERP System (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) several websites
Each had their own difficulties, but was not too time consuming for our IT staff.
There are some things we have noticed with errors that Avalara was aware of, but they did not and have not stepped forward to help with the situation. Otherwise I would have given a better rating. The errors are costing our company and substantial amount of money.

The Avalara Returns has definitely helped the company. CertCapture was signed up for this year, but we have had some difficulty getting it started and being successfully used.
Well suited for companies that have sales taxes in multiple states for numerous products that do not want to have a dedicated in-house team to focus on making sure the taxes are recorded, received from customers, and paid to the states while reporting on time.

Less appropriate for small companies that have only 1 state for or a minimum of states that are not likely to pay much if any taxes. Depends on each companies needs.
