Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT on a daily basis. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is a cloud-based system which means our users can access it from anywhere there is internet access. We keep track of all of our existing and potential donors, their giving, their contact information, and everything we need to best insure that we are able to thank our donors and help them feel that they are important to and valued by us.

Pros and Cons

Gift recording, generating thank you letters and receipts

Providing insights (which can be customized) into an individual's giving capacity
Creating donor giving forms online

The 'back-end" of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT - database view has functions that have not been fully developed yet in my opinion.
Using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT for gift recording can create duplicate records I've found.
I've found not all fields in the database view are available in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

Return on Investment

we know more about our donors because gift officers have an easy way to enter actions and notes relating to a donor visit or call
having a way to track interaction means we are less likely to accidentally "ignore" a donor

Data Intelligence

We are able to easily see our retention, lapsed donors and donors that have increased or decreased their giving. The wealth rating (stars) are a good starting point for getting an idea about a constituent's capacity for giving and we are able to add our own information to the record - including gifts the constituent has made to other organizations. When our president travels we are able to pull lists based on point on the map where is is going and see if there are constituents that he should try to see while there.

As database manager, I still spend the majority of my time in database view but for occasional users, board members, gift officers, or others that only need to view records - not necessarily create lists or data pulls - Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is friendlier and not as intimidating. A gift officer can pull up a donor record on their phone, and if meeting at a donor's house, can see a street view and map. A Board member at an event can open a record and see a photo of the donor they've been asked to interact with.
