Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have automated our project intake process for new learning and development projects to feed into ClickUp where they are assigned to the individual that will manage the project and work it to completion. We also use it to manage yearly roadmap projects where individuals from the team will collaborate on a project and use ClickUp as their hub.

Pros and Cons

Project management notifications/updates.
Integration with other systems for automation.
Project collaboration with team members.
Prorates charges when adding a user mid billing cycle so everyone is aligned.
Great desktop application for Windows and Mac.

The mobile app is confusing to use and does not represent a mobile version of the web app.
Some new features are included with the current plan and some you have to pay extra for.
Learning curve can be a bit much for non-digital native users.

Return on Investment

Allowed for the proper intake of new projects for the department. Allowing us to collect all information up-front and make informed decisions on the acceptance of new projects.
Allowed for proper workload management of all individuals in the department, causing a positive impact on morale.
Increased collaboration within the department on larger projects that cross functionality and require multiple deliverables.

Collaboration

ClickUp has had a positive impact on the collaboration within our department. Several projects require multiple deliverables from various teams within our department. ClickUp allows us to record all deliverables within a project and track each individually. Like a project within a project. Team members can also share files and meeting notes within the project.

All-in-One Productivity Platform

We have integrated ClickUp with Typeform using Zapier for our intake process. Requestors use a Typeform to complete their request with all the information we need to make an informed decision on the assignment and workload for the project. We can further automate the projects by feeding information into Airtable for additional tracking and reporting.

Alternatives Considered

Asana and Trello

ClickUp had many of the same features of the competition but it came it at a lower price. It also seems more nimble in the development of new features.

The cost is lower than competitors, which makes it more approachable for groups that are not practicing good project management.
