Overall Satisfaction with Jamf Pro

Apple device management. In a world where people want choice and devices that don't necessarily like to be managed, this product is the Cadillac and granddaddy as far as Apple MDM is concerned. While it does have its quirks (what product doesn't), Jamf's support is on key and will do what it can to help you - even if it's out of their purview.
  • Apple Device Management
  • SMART GROUPS!
  • API development
  • Integrations
  • CUSTOMER FOCUSED
  • Device onboarding
  • Product Issues
  • Software Updates
  • Application versioning reporting
  • Ability to update 1200 devices in 6 minutes
  • Able to give power back to other departments via the API
Jamf is apple first and apple only. The architecture of the application screams that refined polishedness you'd get from Apple. The other applications that I've had experience with are not near as polished - especially for the apple ecosystem. I'd recommend Jamf for the apple centric organization or at least apple heavy org.

Do you think Jamf Pro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Jamf Pro's feature set?

Yes

Did Jamf Pro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Jamf Pro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Jamf Pro again?

Yes

Well suited for any organization that wants to manage apple products. It's extremely easy to integrate and has many connectors for existing enterprise infrastructure applications. Certificate management is a breeze. Not so suited for smaller businesses that only have 10-20 devices. Jamf has another product called JAMF Now that would suffice for those areas.

Using Jamf Pro

100 - Endpoint Administration, Information Security, Network Security, Client Services, etc.
2 - Apple relevant skills such as an understanding of the operating system, scripting, profile understanding, understanding IdP integrations, etc.
  • Apple Management
  • Certificate distribution
  • Application deployment
  • API integrations
  • healthcare listener
  • Jamf Trust
  • Workflow automation
We've wholly put all of our "eggs" in this basket.

Evaluating Jamf Pro and Competitors

Yes - Mobile Iron - because Cisco sunset it (basically). Jamf was the leading MDM for Apple products, so we decided it was the best choice.
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
We now have a specific set of requirements that Jamf has offered and is now part of our requirements list since we leverage most of these things.

Jamf Pro Implementation

Migration from an existing MDM requires device wipe and reenroll for full supervision of the device. It's somewhat painful. User enrollment makes things easier, but you miss out on full management.
Yes - 1. Stand up Jamf
2. Migrate subsets of devices
3. Sunset old MDM
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
  • Reenrollment of all devices
  • User understanding of why we did what we did
  • Communication

Jamf Pro Support

It has declined in the recent years. Used to have same day turn around on "standard" support calls. Now it takes longer unfortunately.
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
Kept well informed
Support cares about my success
Escalation required
No. I never had to in the past (nor was it an option), so I don't feel the need to now. However, having access to internal product issues is what is making me lean towards premium support.
Yes - The bugs that I report are usually resolved within 3 cycles of Jamf Pro updates.
I was reached directly (via Slack) from a product owner to discuss the issue and they wanted to get "hands on" to see what it was. Great communication and rapport.

Using Jamf Pro

Some things are a bit convoluted now since changing to Jamf Pro 11, however, it's one of the most easiest platforms to work with in regards to Apple MDM
