Overall Satisfaction with Linode

We host a plethora of websites and web applications on Linode.
  • Uptime
  • Free Upgrades
  • High Performance
  • Hypervisor <-> Web UI response time is still a little slow
  • I would love a Low-volume Transactional Email service for contact forms, reset PW emails, etc.
  • Linode gave me servers without cPanel when no one else would. That's saved me an uncountable number of hours of frustration.
AWS is too complicated. Digital Ocean is good, but they seem to want to be Heroku, Jr. Linode is a VPS, that's it. Note: I haven't used the other services Linode provides.
Overall, Linode's support does a great job. They did pull a site of mine offline that was in development due to a mixup with a security vendor. It would have been nice if they contacted me first, but I understand why they have that policy.
I don't use the cloud infrastructure, and probably never will.
Our customers want their websites up. Linode does that.
Amazon Aurora, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
I want Linode an alternative to AWS -- not a competitor. There are still middle-size players out there, who develop applications for other companies. AWS is just way too expensive for us and our customers.
