Overall Satisfaction with LumApps

LumApps acts as our company's intranet, pulling together our policies, careers and promotions, org structure, personnel directory, and upcoming event information. The platform is the authoritative source for all information employees need to perform their daily tasks. It integrates tightly with our Microsoft Suite of tools such as Teams and Stream. This integration is an essential component that enables content creators to pull together critical information from various sources and bundle it into a single resource.
  • Automating the seeding of content throughout the site via content widgets and metadata
  • Flexible page layout options that enable templated pages but allow authors to customize them
  • Easy application of styles that conform to the firm look and feel standards
  • Management of data-intensive content- LumApps had partnered with AwesomeTable but that company was unable to provide ongoing services to our firm. LumApps should consider developing at least some of those native capabilities.
  • Styles are not customizable- things like cell padding cannot be altered for specific instances.
  • We've had to develop workarounds due to poor search results for specific portions of content (used a content list and filter but results, while better, still not optimal).
  • Support- help documentation on LumApps is poor and outdated and our support package is limited- which means we must figure things out for ourselves or give up.
  • LumApps has enabled us to consolidate all policies and procedures for the firm to enable employees to more quickly and easily find specific policies they need when facing life changes.
  • LumApps has empowered employees by making it easier to locate promotion tools and information to enhance their careers.
  • In a remote work world, LumApps has proved an invaluable hub for providing onboarding orientation, training, and resources.
I think ramp-up time for new LumApps content authors on basic page authoring is relatively quick, but better training materials on LumApps' site would provide our small support team with a better way to ramp up new users and enable them to problem-solve for themselves. I've found LumApps help documentation to be out of date (old screenshots), unclear, and relatively useless. I ended up having to ask our administrators after trying unsuccessfully to solve the problem myself.
MS integration is critical for us, but I have found MS Teams integration to be useless, as there appears to be no way to block the "x has left the team", "y has joined the team" messages. So we don't recommend integrating MS Teams to our content authors. We've also had issues integrating our Box Instance via the Box widget, as permissions often hinder the ability to view files and folders unless the user has joined that Box-folder- even when permissions are wide open to all. So we also discourage users from using that. MS Stream appears, however, to be extremely well integrated, and there is increasing demand to integrate video content into our LumApps instance.
I was not part of the selection process. We do have teams that are using SharePoint due to the fact that their teams use MS Teams heavily to share and collaborate. Some teams find it easier to simply build out SharePoint pages because their Teams content already lives on SharePoint. SharePoint requires some degree of developer involvement though. We would like to be able to more easily integrate SharePoint content into LumApps so that our information ecosystem does not further fragment.

LumApps is great for general text and image-based content, and better now for video. What I've found lacking though, is support for tabular data and for filtering that data. I have a data-intensive project and was pleased with how I was able to use AwesomeTable to filter that data based on specific criteria but that third-party vendor was unable to provide ongoing support to the project through licensing to our firm and unwilling to undergo security testing and screening by us prior to licensing.
