Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

The marketing team are the main users of Marketo, specifically me. We use it as our CRM for email automation, landing page creation, webinar programs, website forms, etc. We do weekly email blasts to our database as well as nurture programs for all of our content downloads, free tools, webinars, paid social ads, and any other marketing programs we run. It's great for reporting numbers on lead acquisition and email/nurture performance.
  • Good integration with GoToWebinar. We create our own landing pages through Marketo so leads sign up on our website instead of a GoToWebinar landing page. Registration and attendee information is synced to Marketo. We handle all the confirmation and follow up emails in Marketo.
  • Engagement programs. We use these for all of our gated content downloads and free tools. We have hundres of people driving up to our website every day to use our free tools so it's a good way of keeping them engaged with weekly emails after they've tried a free tool.
  • Paid campaigns. Integration with Facebook and LinkedIn make it easy to feed leads straight to Marketo and get them immediately into an engagement program and assigned to sales if needed.
  • A/B testing emails could be better. Although there is A/B testing functionality, it's not easily customizable.
  • Better email reporting. Would like to see breakdowns of emails being sent by month, unsubscribes by month, etc.
  • Landing page creation. You're given the choice of a guided landing page template which you must have a someone with technical experience to design (a lot of marketers don't). Or you have a free-form landing page which is incredibly difficult to layout.

The goal is always to increase new product sales but really focused more in creating new opportunities.
Marketo is easy to learn and easy to use. It has a lot of integrations with other platforms like GoToWebinar, Facebook Ads, and LinkedIn Ads. You can set up complex nurtures for cross marketing. Lead scoring is intuitive. Email reports are basic and easy to read. Making website forms is simple.
I haven't used anything other than Marketo so I don't have a lot to judge against. But I found that Marketo is pretty intuitive and easy to learn. Email automation is relatively simple and basic reporting works for the standard package. If you want more in-depth insights, you have to purchase extra packages which are costly. For more product based communications, we use SendGrid, not Marketo.
