Overall Satisfaction with Nutanix AOS

It's the backbone of our mission-critical servers. It houses our HR, file servers, print servers, database servers, web servers, and any other small projects we need along the way.
  • Fault tolerance: We have had drives fail, but the system did exactly what it was built to do. It stayed online and we had no downtime while it was being addressed.
  • Hardware: We have had some small failures, but it is to be expected. Apart from two minor issues, their hardware has been rock solid for the last 5 years we have owned it.
  • Service and support: Quick to respond and quick to resolve issues. Very knowledgeable technicians every time we've called.
  • Since they've improved their system over the years, I've had a hard time finding a major issue I'm unhappy with. It used to be backup compatibility with Veeam, but now AHV and AOS have native support for it.
  • We've had great ROI on our setup and we're looking to keep it going with our next refresh.
I have never had anything but helpful technicians and positive support experiences with Nutanix.

We needed a solution to replace an 8-year-old SAN paired with 6-year-old servers. This not only gave us a single solution to both problems, but we were able to institute HA and DR features we had never had the resources to do before.
Training provided was easy to follow, if not a bit on the heavy side. Their Nutanix U site had a lot of materials available that help understand the system and how everything worked together.
It's done everything we have asked of it and more. It's been stable and trouble-free for a great portion of its lifetime. It did all of this and still saved us almost 8U of rack space. We could not be happier with the system in both form and function.

We really haven't done much with the other modules. Our organization is small enough that implementing most of them would have been overkill and rarely utilized. It doesn't mean we never will, but it wasn't a need as we stand today. With our next refresh, I would like to look into using AHV instead of VMWare, so that may be where we experiment with this next.
If you just need a single machine to provide a particular service, i.e. a web server, then this may not be the best solution. If you need a system to make sure you have your systems online and running 24-7 without fail, it's a great solution.
