Overall Satisfaction with Paychex Flex

We use Paychex Flex for our payroll processing, 401k management & other various needs.
  • Payroll processing
  • Responding to answers timely
  • Better 401k statements for employees
  • When employees lock themselves out of their account, it's awful getting them reset or when they get a new phone number, email address, etc., and can't use the old one to reset their password.
  • Streamlined custom report features
  • Better communication when our account rep is changed. Every single time our rep has changed, they never reached out to let us know. It took me an email for help, only to find out that the rep wasn't there anymore or something, and then having to track down who our new rep was because it wasn't updated on the Paychex Flex site either.
  • The employee self-service aspect is helpful for the most part, but we still have a number of employees who have issues with logging into the app and will just call to update their information or obtain their PTO amounts.
Positively - I use a custom labor report to calculate the gross payroll based on job categories for our workers' comp monthly reporting. We also use custom reports/data to look at our turnover from various perspectives.
Some departments are better than others. The 401k department has always been my least favorite, and I find them to be the least helpful with the slowest turnaround time for answering questions. I wish there was a brand promise of say a 24-hour turnaround time to answer our emails, but, sometimes, we have to email or try to call our payroll account rep multiple times to get answers.

It's pretty user-friendly for the most part, maybe not on some of the reporting features, but everything else is straightforward.
We actually have 2 companies, this one and another that's just starting out this year. Paychex Flex has worked well for us here, in our larger company, but was not well suited for our smaller company.
