Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We started out in January 2022 using Paylocity for payroll services. We have since expanded our use and are using it for managing Time Off Requests, Time Tracking, FSA/Cobra and Expense Reimbursements.
  • integration with our 401(k) provider
  • Once it's set up and working as it should be, things go smoothly and it's very user friendly
  • Paylocity offers a lot of services that integrate together and make my job easier (for example, time tracking and expense reimbursements integrate with payroll.
  • Onboarding has been a bit of a nightmare. Every service we onboard with we go through the same pain where things are supposed to be set up well but when we actually go to use the service we run into more issues.
  • Calling in to support generally works well but emailing support usually ends up with someone providing me the wrong answer to solve my problem. They typically just tell me to go reference an article in their help section (which usually doesn't address my actual issue). They don't even include a link to the article, they make me go search for it using the article number.
  • There are lots of "hidden" settings in the background in different areas of the website (or sometimes things I can't even control on my end). It could definitely be made more user friendly.
  • It would be nice if the process was a bit simpler to move clocked time into payroll - the process requires quite a few steps and it seems unnecessarily complicated.
  • I was told we would have a dedicated account manager before we onboarded and that is not the case. We are serviced by a team. I would much rather have a dedicated person to work with and build a relationship with.
  • Time off request email notifications to supervisors should include a link that can be clicked to route the supervisor directly to the pending item.
  • once setup is complete for a particular module then time expenditures do see a reduction
  • reduced errors because of ability to integrate with vendors and between modules
  • more consistent processes
This is our first year with Paylocity and so we have spent a lot of time just trying to get everything set up, but I do believe that going forward I definitely expect Paylocity's automation to free up more time for HR related objectives.
We have not used any of these tools yet.
We have not used any of these similar products.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

No

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

I think the most difficult part about Paylocity is just the initial setup. Onboarding with a new provider is always challenging, but I've found them to be particularly difficult to get things set up properly. Once things are up and running they generally go smoothly and I do think that ultimately the gain is still worth the pain but people should definitely go into it with the right mindset.
