Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity as our primary HRIS for Human Resources and Payroll administration. We use the Onboarding, HR, Payroll, Learning, Performance, Compensation, and Compliance modules, and have since 2014.
  • Accurate payroll reporting
  • Good integration from compensation module to payroll module
  • user friendly interface
  • lots of pre-build reports and ability to customize and create reports
  • Performance module breaks often and service to repair it is unavailable
  • doesn't change quickly enough to capture State-specific changes in wage and hour laws
  • In my experience, service requests can go unanswered and often if they respond, they don't know how to fix the issue
  • Significant efficiencies in payroll processing, automation and approvals
  • Enhanced new hire experience and automation of onboarding and documentation
  • In my experience, it failed to catch a change in CA 401k withholding law and resulted in several quarters of amended payroll tax returns
  • Increased automation and reduced reliance on paper and manual processes
Paylocity does a very good job at automating the core processes of payroll, time tracking, and new hire paperwork/documentation. This has benefitted us by increased efficiencies and reduced costs by not needing to add additional staff as our business and employee base grows.
So far we have not had much utilization of the Community and Impressions. We would like to use the surveys but they lack the reporting dashboard capabilities and anonymity that our employees require before they are comfortable completing them. We do not use the Premium Video feature.
Paylocity is better than Paychex but ADP is more robust. When Paylocity had a good service center team, they were much more responsive than ADP and we were very happy. However, in my experience as Paylocity has grown we are having more errors and issues on the Paylocity side, and they have a huge turnover in service center employees so we are constantly receiving new account reps and our service requests go unresolved.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

Paylocity is good for small to mid-sized businesses who don't have particularly complex payrolls. It is ok for multi-state employers. It is best used for payroll processing and HR recordkeeping, and the onboarding module integrates well with the HR module. In my opinion, the performance, learning and compensation modules are newer and they are not as robust. In my view. reporting is almost non-existent for performance, learning and compensation modules.
