Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray

We've used Pure Storage FlashArray for three years in all our organization for several cases, like file servers, storages servers, virtualizations environments ( Openstack - Kvm, XEN ) it's being used by the whole organization around the world. With Pure Storage FlashArray we reduce the time to market problems for our cloud production environment managing the storage throughout API calls and reduce end user problems in each regional office with slow storages. We have replaced other vendors legacy storages like Net App and EMC.
  • Managing the Storage through API calls.
  • Upgrade is the best, you never have downtime, you can upgrade firmware controllers or physical controllers and have no downtime, High Availability works perfect.
  • Support of Pure is great and we never have a problem with them, from installing the Storage to implementations with Openstack and Cinder
  • Did not have any issue with Pure. every report we find, they resolve with fixes.
  • We find a positive ROI on it.
  • We could have better prices than other vendors.
I gave this rating because the support is great, they are there 24x7 and they know about your possible problems. They understand the market and if they don't have an answer immediately they fix it very quickly.
We choose Pure storage FlashArray over all of these competitors because we found better Performance, Price, and Support.
Pure Storage Flash Array is well suited for virtualization environments, like Hyper-V, OpenStack, VMware, XEN, in this case it works perfectly with the cinder drivers with OpenStack. (We test Icehouse, Mitaka and Manila.) I think that Pure Storage FlashArray is less appropriate just to do backups and to have it like a legacy storage system. It is much more than that. The best use of the storage is for performance uses.

Using Pure Storage FlashArray

500 - Almost all our Infraestructure, Developments and Product people on the company use Pure Storage Flash Array. we use it to deploy development, test and for production environment all around the world in all our offices.
Also if we go more in depth, our website runs over Pure Storage FlashArray, so we can say that it is used by a lot of people
2 - We have just 2 people that have the skill to support Pure Storage FlashArray, the Storage Team of the company are only 2 people to support not only the Pure Storage FlashArray also other units and models from Pure Storage, models like X10, M20, X20, X70 iscsi, FC protocols. because of the easy to administrate we dont need more people
  • We use it as an storage in our hybrid openstack cloud. more than 500 users deploys and use their development in Pure Storage
  • We use it as File System for all the users in the company around the world
  • we use it for the most important applications that needs the best performance over IO and security (backup retention)
I give 9 points because we are very satisfied with Pure Storage, its become Core to our infraestructue because we found performance, support and costs that helps on our needs and we think that they are in the right way over the competitors and if they keep like this it would be very difficult to change to another competitor

Evaluating Pure Storage FlashArray and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
The most important factor in our decision was the performance over I/O of the Pure Storage Flash Array, the easy integration with openstack (icehouse, folsom, mitaka and Queens) and also the price was a good factor.
then when we start using the Pure Storage we found that the support is very good too
I think i will do it the same again.
we ask for a Probe of concept (POC) to know the unit and performance, we trust in benchmarks, but we always want to test is in our environments. after we did the POC the performance and times of I/O were excellent and start negotiation, that was great too.
