Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray
We use Pure Storage FlashArray as our only SAN technology across 2 sites. It is across the whole organization. It addresses a number of business problems from simple storage to DR due to protection groups and replication.
- 0 byte snapshots, particularly useful for a point in time restore without taking up any additional space.
- De-Dupe & Compression works particularly well globally, no need to silo data of the same kind in order to maximize these technologies.
- Ease of use and administration. Nothing takes more than a few mouse clicks and the interface is easy to use and understand.
- Honestly, cannot think of anything. Pure does everything I use it for well.
- We used to run an HP LeftHand P4000 SAN which had more problems more often than not. We have not had a single issue with our Pure SANs in the 5 years we have had them. So from the business objective of uptime and uninterrupted working, Pure wins hands down.
- We do a lot of intensive SQL work and Pure has enabled us to be more productive in terms of database restores and testing environments as restoring LUNs from snapshots and having them take up no more disk space is invaluable for us.
We considered offerings from HP but our history with them left sour grapes so we didn't investigate their offering too deeply.
