Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

Quickbase is currently being used in multiple capacities, but mostly in use by our HR department. It helps our HR dept, with the on boarding and off boarding of employees so that assets are enabled and disabled as needed and on a timely basis. It also allows HR and managers to handle all vacation and time off requests in a simple manner where the end users can see and edit their requests as well as their approval status.

QuickBase is also used by all of our employees for time tracking. We've built a basic app which provides us with quick and detailed reports that we can then use to make sure work for clients is billed appropriately and stays within budget.
  • Very flexible. If you have a process that your business uses, odds are, quickbase can handle it.
  • Customization within apps. Quickbase allows for an app to be easily customized based on the user's role in the process. Permissions can be controlled on a granular basis.
  • Easy sharing across domains. Apps from another company can be shared with yours and vice-versa. This is important so time isn't wasted on developing an app that may already exist.
  • Cost is the biggest deterrent. But, all good things cost money.
  • The pricing plans aren't very clear about what they include. It is important to have calls with a rep to make sure everything is understood properly.
Prior to QuickBase, our internal processes were fluid. Implementing QuickBase allowed us to cement our processes and stay consistent across the company's employees.
I am in the beginning phase of testing Salesforce out so I cannot offer a valid review just yet.
I work in IT so my view may be a bit skewed. I found building custom apps fairly easy. As far as supporting other users, I found the biggest issue to be them over-complicating a process and blaming QuickBase for not making it easier. My number one suggestion to developers of apps is to make use of a whiteboard and have detailed flow charts.
  • Building and deploying business applications faster
  • Improving our ability to drive insights from our data
  • Improving collaboration across one or more teams
  • Solving a specific business challenge
  • Building and deploying an application (or multiple applications) that meets our exact needs
We knew what we were looking for out of our QuickBooks apps, so we were able to implement the apps easily. Once our apps were in place, the reporting tools allowed us to see what areas of our business were struggling and what areas are doing great. As a result, we can balance out our resources to achieve better efficiency.
Quickbase allows for inplace updates or lateral updates. For high use apps, we typically do lateral updates in which we duplicate the app with a right click and then perform the edits on the copy. Once we are certain, we make the changes on the live app.
I have so far used QuickBase for a range of activities from time tracking, vacation and purchase requests/approvals, and equipment tracking and management. Most of my issues with Quickbase have been able to be resolved usually with UI tweaking or a quick support call.
