Overall Satisfaction with RUN Powered by ADP®

I plan to use the Employee Handbook as we are in the midst of drafting our first even this year.
We are farmers who grow sweet cherries, and often hire summer college interns. We use RUN for payroll, and it has significantly reduced the amount of time I spent calculating taxes etc. The program is straightforward and easy to use, especially once used a few times. Year-end W2s and filings were a breeze, eliminating the work on my end.
  • Year-end reporting
  • Reporting
  • Input entry
  • I understand that the timekeeping part could be more user-friendly and consistent, based on feedback form last year's summer employees. I will be checking it out myself this year.
  • Because we farm in Michigan, OT pay is not required. I did not look closely enough to see that it was being paid, and we spent $750 unintentionally on OT. Would be great to have that as a question on the "onboarding" process.
  • Significantly reduced my time managing and inputting payroll.
WE have not yet utilized this.
Have not used it yet this summer.
More of the technical tax information is done by ADP than in Quickbooks. Even though I have an accounting degree, I do not want to have to keep up on all of the current laws, etc. ADP does that for me!

Using RUN Powered by ADP®

1 - My husband and I are the founders and owners of a small farm in northern Michigan. We hire seasonal employees every year, usually three college interns, for the summer. We also have an orchard manager. I am a former CPA, and take care of hiring, payroll, "HR".
1 - I found it helpful that I was an accountant by training.
  • Payroll
  • Worker's Comp Insurance
  • Timekeeping
  • Pay-by-pay on the Worker's Comp
  • Easy to go back and look at hours and edit as needed
  • Taking the burden of filing payroll taxes at the end of the year
  • uncertain at this time
I do not want to go back to running, calculating, and filing payroll taxes on my own, as I was previously doing through Quickbooks!

I now use ADP's Worker's Comp insurance via "Pay by Pay", which calculates and deducts your premium on a cycle that matches your partoll - thus no big surprises when you have to complete an audit and pay the difference. The hardest part of this was understanding and delivering to the previous company to accept the documents that canceled my policy with them.
I have always been able to get a response within a reasonable timeframe, and the they are able to resolve my question with accurate answers.

RUN Powered by ADP® Reliability

Every summer, we hire three new college interns who have to be entered into the system. They can enter their information themselves, which takes a load off me. The onboarding is quite straightforward, and today's college kids are techy enough to be able to understand it.
I have never had an issue getting into ADP Run when I needed to do so! I know I can rely on the ability to get in without concern.
ADP Run loads a bit slowly at times, once I put in my credentials. However, that said, I think my perception of the time it takes is impacted by our "instant gratification" expectation of being able to get into everything quickly.
