Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

It's primarily used in the Accounting department. The FP&A team has access to pull reporting but the primary use is kept in that department. It has provided an easy to use general ledger and allows for 3rd party integrations and APIs.

Pros

  • Some modules are clunky.
  • Needs better workflow routing, specifically for non-user approvals.
  • We've been able to expand usage past basic GL activities.
Definitely! We've been able to streamline processes in multiple areas of the department. In Accounts Payable specifically, I was able to use an API with an AP Automation system to Intacct and reduced workload by 50%.
The availability of these modules is helpful. There are pros and cons to using the built-in ones vs. purchasing the 3rd-party option but Intacct allows for easy access to either.
We have multiple systems linked to Intacct and there are rarely (if ever) integration/sync issues. It's been pivotal in the way we've grown the organization and accounting department.
It's much more user-friendly than Quickbooks, especially for customization. NetSuite is similar but it is a bit more complex than Sage Intacct. Sage seems to have found the sweet spot between basic performance and all the bells & whistles some system has.
For small to mid-sized companies, Sage Intacct has all the core functionality for finance & accounting. Though there are some modules/areas that could be improved, most organizations are going to see their needs met, and may even expand initial plans to incorporate additional modules available. I'm not sure this is a "full-service" system for a large organization unless Intacct Partner Companies are included and added on.
