Overall Satisfaction with Skype
We were using Skype as one of our quick messaging tool for in-house use. The other tool that was used for instant messaging at the time was Slack.
Skype was in use for the whole organization - meaning that across all the subsidiary nations and the group employees were reachable there.
It was connected to our work e-mails so very easy to reach the person you wanted.
We discontinued using Skype in favour of Slack

We discontinued using Skype in favour of Slack
- Quick message colleagues
- Quite easy to set up videomeetings
- Kind of difficult to manage if you have had many conversations
- The UI feels dated and unimaginative
- Some filetypes are struggle to upload in chats
- Struggles with audio and video meetings
- Overall Skype was not widely used in our organization thus there was no significant business impact
- IT department had to maintain Skype
Compared to Slack, Skype for Business and MS Teams - I would choose any of them over Skype.
Main strength of the other solutions is that they are usually made to be connected to your work e-mail.
I find it surprising that we kept supporting Skype for many years and only in 2021 decided to discontinue the support for it.
