Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization is hybrid, with both teams that work onsite and teams that work remotely. Our entire company utilizes Slack for real time communication. Several of us also have Slack tied into our Google calendars which we then use to set up meetings on days/times that are convenient for everyone.

Pros and Cons

Easy to use
Easy to create private channels
Easy to delete users
Great for emojis!

It can be difficult to catch up on messages when you're out

Keeping communication through various departments strong
Being made aware of tech issues quickly
Building a sense of community with remote employees

Alternatives Considered

I have not used or evaluated any other products like Slack. I was not part of the selection process for Slack either. Because I feel that it meets the current needs of our business, I don't foresee the need to look at any other products anytime in the near future.

Likelihood to Recommend

Slack is very well suited for quick communication. I would still utilize email for more detailed information or for any kind of information that you want people to be held accountable for knowing and understanding. I especially like the fact that it integrates with Google Calendar for ease of scheduling meetings with multiple people.
