Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager

We currently use SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) throughout our school district, tracking our entire IP space at 27 separate schools, and the district office. IP management had previously been managed by a loosely held conventions used by most technicians, attempting to use static IP addresses for anything that was not on WiFi.
  • Ease of use
  • Integration with SolarWinds Orion platform.
  • Tighter integration with NPM would be beneficial.
  • Saved person-hours.
Our original implementation technician was very helpful in guiding us through the process of setting it up and giving us some guidance on how we would be able to get the most benefit from the product. The following year, when we decided that enough bad decisions were made with our entire Orion implementation, SolarWinds support again went out of their way to assist us in getting us the best bang for our buck.

Would you buy SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) again?

Yes

For any organization already invested in the SolarWinds suite, IPAM becomes a common-sense addition to the suite. The ability to carefully delegate permissions for technicians to work with DNS and DHCP entries alleviates the burdens for all parties involved. Seeing subnets that are getting heavier than expected utilization before it becomes an issue makes planning for future upgrades very handy.
