Overall Satisfaction with Trello

This tool is being used by multiple departments across campus for varying levels of project management. This tool is used by my department as an overall tasking system so we know what everyone is currently working on as well as what we having coming down the pipe. This has allowed us much more overall flexibility.

  • Transparency.
  • Larger project management instead of just tasking.
  • We have largely leveraged the free version for our department and it has streamlined our tasking.
  • Other areas on campus have the paid version and use it for more advanced scenarios with multiple boards to manage more projects and are happy with its performance.
  • This tool has helped us save a lot of time when it comes to staying on task and breaking up larger projects between co-workers.
It has a very smooth interface and we really like the simplicity of being able to move cards around at will. The tool's general flexibility kept us using it for quite some time and some people have begun using it to track their own personal stuff as well.
This is not something we have had to work with. Our interactions with support have been limited to searching help pages and forums for any kind of customization we needed. We have not run into any major technical issues with this application which is definitely a good sign overall when it comes to the strength of this product.
We have used JIRA Software for large projects to utilize the ability to create Epics and manage the health of much larger projects that span years. This is something that can be done using individual boards in Trello but if you are not in a scenario where you need a tool that can do that I believe that JIRA can be a bit too much of an expense and is vastly more complicated.
When it comes to managing a small department or groups of peoples, overall tasking and light project management with the individual boards it is very efficient and clean. If you want to get very finely detailed and customized you might want to look more at a tool like JIRA with more functionality built-in.
