Veeam Backup for MS Office 365 - Review

We currently use Office 365 backups only for a select few employees whose data is deemed irreplaceable. We place most of our trust in that Office 365 fills the retention policy needs for 99% of the company.

The business had a requirement to make the executives of the business have highly available email, in case something was to happen to Office 365 or if they were the victim of a security attack.
As we run in a hybrid environment we could also restore the mailboxes to an on-prem point in a DR situation.

Thankfully our organisation has never been attacked and certainly hope that day never comes.

We obviously have occasional issues with data loss and usually if the file cannot be recovered it is because of our own personal backup policies and not the fault of the software.

We have previously used all the restore methods in the past. Mainly for testing rather than an actual situation.

The export to PST function was useful during a busy period while the business was getting audited and saved us a great deal of time instead of running full e-discoveries within Office 365.

Re-treading old ground here - but the software just works. The backups are fast and reliable. The restores are also quite fast (obviously the massively depends on the storage). Thankfully we haven't had the need to use the product in a DR scenario - but I am confident the data will be there when we need it.
