Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint

We use Authpoint to better secure VPN for our remote staff, approximate 85% of our staff are remote and work from both home, client sites and Public venues. MFA is crucial if staff are working remotely. Authpoint was selected based on cost, ease of use and configuration, and overall compatability with our firewalls (Watchguard.) Though we use Office 365 and SharePoint intensively, we have specific internal apps that staff must use and specific data sets kept behind our firewalls that can only be accessed remotely when on VPN. Securing the connection is essential. Authpoint is an important part in our multi-layered desktop and communications security.
  • Works well with the free Authpoint client and the OpenVPN clinet.
  • Token management is simple and hosted completely in the cloud to reduce overall complexity
  • Setup was simple and and staighforward
  • Suppports several authentication methods we have used both RADIUS and SAML effectively, but ADFS, IDP, RDWeb, and RESTful API, and other custom apps are supported.
  • Geofencing for RDP has been very useful as it is independant of our firewall geofencing. This is quite useful for organizations like us who do not Geofence at at the firewall level so as to provide global access to resources on the DMZ.
  • Authpoint can integrate with other vendors firewalls, but this is not easily set up. The company could provide better support when customers who need to use a firewall from a third party vendor.
  • The Authpoint native desktop client can fail and need it processes killed at the OS level. At time only a restart can restore functionality. This occurs on about .05% of the connections
  • Thought the actual setup is fairly simple the documentation is mediocre.
  • Authpoint has helped secure or VPN so that we could take advantage of a revenue stream over the past two years created as result of the market changes produced by Covid. Had we not had this tool we would not have been able to take full advantage of the this potential as locked in staff would not have had secure access to our internal analyses and tools.
  • Currently Authpoint allows our staff greater freedom of location and better, more efficient access to critical data when traveling than they have had in the past. meaning we are working more efficiently.
  • The benefits of MFA have allowed us to increase the use of VPN to allow more employees to work where they need. Staff retention has been increased.
Password control has been a strong emphasis for our company. MFA was rapidly accepted and has reduced password change requests. MFA is an essential component in our evolving singe sign n and zero trust initiatives. These initiatives are in keeping with better business acceptance by our business clients and supplier and helps secure our supply chain.
The biggest value benefit is the soft affect of greater confidence staff have in mobile working and efficiency resulting form access to data they would have been restricted from. IT staff have almost no need to manage the Authpoint solution unless Staff lose their phones. The admin overhead is very low
We have not needed to use this feature as the internal discipline of our staff regrading password use is strong and their understanding relatively sophisticated
Our overall Authpoint MFA and password strategies, combined with intensive staff training has had a major effect on dark web password occurrences. We have had no reports of our accounts/password being found on the dark web in the last 3 years. Previous years reports were accounts that had been retired over 5 years previously.
We investigated Fortinet IAM but found it costly and complex. Atuthpoint was less expensive, the mobile client was preferred by staff. The cloud console was also easier to use.

We acquired premium support with our initial purchase. We prioritise support on all our security products. The risks of slower ,less skilled support in security can seriously damage our company and it's reputation.
Their support has been skilled, timely, and proportional to the issue
At one point when the initial integration of our Fortigate firewall with Authpoint had issues, the Watchguard support assisted the Fortinet support to identify the problem. I was impressed the the Watchguard tech was able to guide the Fortinet tech in solving the problem.
