Overall Satisfaction with WordPress

WordPress is a great platform for hosting a Web Site and its content. It not only allows you to create a Web Site and manage its content but also to host Coupons, Blogs, and other features. It has been very good as a Marketing Web Site platform, including in situations where multiple Web sites are hosted for different Divisions.
  • Coupons
  • Blogs
  • Web Pages
  • Plug Ins
  • It is a bit hard for non-technical users to administer it since the back end of WordPress involves PHP and JavaScript.
  • Some users may not like the interface for composing and publishing content or may not remember to publish their work and leave it in Draft mode.
  • There may be a need to further publicize the formal training program from WordPress with certifications. In past roles we have needed to document everything we do in it very closely and do a great deal of deskside coaching, more so than with other Web content platforms.
  • Manage content within the Marketing Team saving money on Vendors/Outside consultants
  • Preserve and reuse Web content saving time and speeding time to Market
  • Very popular coupon based and special offers pages have been easy to maintain and draw a great following of Visitors
WordPress does well against HubSpot for support across a wide user base. It is easier to justify the cost for as opposed to needing to have a Web content platform and HubSpot in addition.
HubSpot is a bit easier for end users to create, maintain and publish content vs. WordPress. It also has a wider variety of features beyond Web content publishing/management.
Aprimo has had Web publishing features for over a decade and after a small amount of training, one can create Web Forms and Web pages inside the interface. I have not observed the same functionalities in Aprimo vs. WordPress for Couponing and Blogging, howeveer.

Do you think WordPress delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with WordPress's feature set?

Yes

Did WordPress live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of WordPress go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy WordPress again?

Yes

WordPress is very well suited for a Marketing or Web Team that has skill at creating content and coding using HTML and JavaScript. It gives you back what you put into it.
It's not as appropriate for teams with low technical skill or where there is not a dedicated HTML/Web developer. But there is enough documentation and support information out there that with dedicated effort, non-technical Users can learn to use it well.
