Scenarios where ActiveCollab works well1) ActiveCollab works well for small teams specifically T&M teams.Its invoicing feature is unique & can make your life easy.2) It is very easy to use & posses good range of filters like on the task list, we can drag/drop tasks, Filter by assignee's,
tasks lists, due dates, or completed tasks. 3) It has some simple but awesome features like when you're in
the middle of writing something i.e a comment on story and get interrupted,
it retains what you wrote.4) It allows you to tag team members in threads of comments to grab their attention, its really needed when teams are distributed. Thus helping team members to collaborate easily & stay on same page.5) It integrates pretty well with other web apps like quickbooks , Slack, Trello, HubSpot, Zapier etcScenarios where ActiveCollab did not work well1) Tasks can not have multiple assignee's here so if two members are working on same task it did not allow you to reflect that.2) Sorting capability is not their under invoicing3) It did not work well for larger teams4) Search option is not very detailed & you may end up wasting lot of time searching one particular bug or issue.

Airtable

Good for replacing administrative spreadsheets, creating resource assignment and calendars, planning activities, creating on the fly data stores, outputting simple mobile data entry forms. Dealing with mobile staff needing to enter simple data quickly or with managers and officers who need to see real-time snapshots of information. When dealing with smaller data sets and not requiring blocks, then for a non-profit it is useful to have the free workspaces where everyone can fully collaborate and update records.Less good for complex financial work you should stick with Excel or your finance system. If you have a very large number of records and need many people to be able to update records then you need to consider the costs (however most off the shelf products you will be looking at to do your specific tasks will probably cost more when you evaluate them).

  • They give you the source code to use on your own server.
  • It is easy to sort clients and campaigns.
  • The email notifications work perfectly when tagging and talking to people. They allow you to subscribe to tasks as well to keep in the loop on what is going on.

  • Great user experience and minimal learning curve. It wasn't until I became aware of Airtable that we found a solution that allows us to implement the best features of a collaborative RDBMS with our staff who don't have any training. I had previously used Zoho Creator and found that it was difficult to onboard new users because of a steeper learning curve.
  • Easy to share views and invite contributions via forms.
  • Blocks add significant functionality that would be hard to custom build.

  • It would be great to have multi-tiered selection options. So if I check a box-like, "Does this need social support?" I could then pick from a multi-select drop-down based on the choice.
  • It would be good if we could have a kanban view built off a selection from a multi-select since some projects might be part of multiple strategic initiatives.
  • It would be cool if forms could have some basic if/then functionality. As it is, we need to create different forms for different media requests that share 75% of the same data.

Sometimes, I have to wait a bit longer but I'm on a low priced option so I understand why. Generally, they're able to provide me solutions to my problems as long as I'm not in a rush.

ActiveCollab

ActiveCollab is 100% better than any of the other tools we have used. We had previously spent thousands of dollars trying out different software that was comparable, but this has been one of the best decisions we have made as a company. It's also the cheapest ongoing option, especially if you get the self-hosted version.

We do use Social Studio and Sharepoint for other tasks, but for project planning across a wide variety of deliverables, there wasn't enough flexibility all the time. Asana was harder to use and get into and didn't provide an easy way to adjust views/sorts.

  • The automation of the management processes of the company is fantastic thanks to ActiveCollab.

Airtable

  • If not for Airtable I would have had to pursue a CRM system and an asset management system, plus some sort of task management system for multiple employees, and manage my budget in Excel which is a pain when it gets complex. Airtable lets me put all this in one system, light weight, extremely powerful, and extremely efficient. Exactly what we needed. I am so happy this system exists.
  • Airtable is free and you can get quite a bit in there and use it for a while before deciding to go to the paid version. Therefore the proof of concept was quite easy to bring it into our organization. We've been using it for a few months and it's made everyone's lives easier, so moving now to the paid version is a no-brainer. I didn't have to ask everyone to take a big leap of faith in the beginning and there was no big up front resource investment either, at least relative to setting up any other software or even complex Excel workbooks.
  • Several people in our organization have commented that this system has made their lives far easier, because we can now keep track of our tasks and our events. Our key people are both saner and more efficient.
  • The paid version of Airtable is DIRT CHEAP in comparison to the systems it stands in for. I cannot emphasize this enough.
