Likelihood to Recommend [ADP is well suited for] Smaller agencies with a regular payroll and not a complex payroll. Users must be familiar with databases, reporting, etc. as system is not as user friendly as we would like. The cost is also a factor especially as the basic system does not include other features such as performance management, dashboards, etc. I was hoping to have access to the dashboards. Reporting should also provide more sample reports
Read full review EmpCenter is really well suited for companies with minimal variety in time keeping needs. Certainly somewhere that has fairly regular work schedules and operational needs the system would be programmed for and meet those needs quite well. I think they assert themselves as a product specifically for those more complex companies, and I believe it is one of a few products available for companies with many employee types and complex work schedule and pay needs, but because of those complexities each have their own specific customizations I feel it is difficult for the company to then manage the different products that end up existing. Each ends up being unique so applying large scale changes doesn't work well as something we may request and need if applied over EmpCenter in general may cause problems for another company. Therefore everything has to be done on an individual basis and is more time consuming and costly.

Read full review Pros Ease of use: employees can clock in and out on the tablets that are at that location site. They can use the same punch information to log into ADP and look up and edit personal information on their own. Like changing address, phone, and open enrollments. Various methods of clocking. Tablets, computer, biometric clocks, and hand clocks. Read full review A lot flexibility in configuration of the system works well with other systems. We were able to collect data from another time system, Avaya phone systems and even a point of sale system with not a lot of difficulty. They know their product and integration points. They were able to troubleshoot problems with hardware time collection devices quite quickly. We found the devices they sold to be quite durable. Out of the box they have more reports than I would have anticipated. Creating new reports was sometimes a task if it was complex but there were usually similar reports you could use as a starter template Read full review Cons Trying to research previous time cards past a month are hard to achieve. There is a custom date range option but it rarely works, the program just sits there and doesn't pull up the custom range. Pulling reports for various needs is also more difficult then it needs to be. Instead of pulling a quick report with the dates and parameters you need you have to go in and edit the report and then go back in and edit it again to return it to default settings. You also have to watch your invoices and make sure you are receiving your discounts otherwise this software can be quite costly. Make sure your employees bookmark the ADP ezLaborManager website, otherwise it gets difficult to find through an internet search. Read full review After spending close to 5 years to decide on which payroll product to acquire for our University, I cannot image we would switch now that we have it in use.
Read full review Usability ADP is a good system to track information but, what it lacks is just some detail that provides time savings. Some instances they have made "updates" that tend to have been better previous to those "updates." One example is for staff to see how they have used their time off in the past. There should be an easy way to report and review such other than looking at pay periods. Pay statement and review and totals can also improve.
Read full review Support Rating The support is not the best as they take much time to get back to you, days for some items as simple as a standard report. They do not know much about their own system I feel and it shows a lack of knowledge on their part. We have gotten wrong answers and it's not so user friendly.

Read full review Online Training The training provided was based on a generic database and reporting which made it difficult to compare when you had your own database to work at. It also didn't provide good written materials that would be useful after the training session. It was more geared towards the practice tests or applications within the training.

Read full review Alternatives Considered ADP exLaborManager - I prefer ADP over the
Paycor and Aon Hewitt timecard applications. This software was more user friendly, had easier access, reporting, and tracking hours than the others I have used. I am not saying the others are horrible, just that ADP was more simplistic to use and administer than the others.
Read full review EmpCenter is a new software to the company however, I only trained on the old software for a few months before EmpCenter was introduced. I think EmpCenter has a smoother data entry process and can run more in depth reports, but since this is the system I know best I cannot accurately compare it to previous software.
Read full review Return on Investment ADP ezLaborManager saves time, as time sheets are all in the system and can be processed easily with payroll. Reporting makes it easy to look into any discrepancies related to time cards. The process of reconciliation of subcontractors' billing is easier. Read full review EmpCenter has reduced the amount of time administrators are spending on payroll. Certainly it has made our entry to our pay system more efficient since we can simply load the data from the time keeping system and we are not collecting actual physical signatures and paper timesheets that must be reviewed for accuracy and completeness. The system does this for us and some automatic calculating of certain pay due that we were hand adding. However the feedback I am getting is that the supervisors feel their work has been increased greatly. They are spending more time correcting and approving time. Essentially the work we were doing in our central offices to review and correct time the supervisor must now do as they approve the time. We have now asked them to be more responsible for proper reporting and use which requires they know more about the rules and many different aspects of pay than they had before. We have employees who are union represented and get some benefits from the contract others do not receive, contract employees who have certain pay aspects in their contracts that must be known, as well as temporary employees and students who get very different pay from the other employees. While some things have been programmed for the system to know and handle, some things must be added to the time sheet to pay properly or the way time is reported is different (some clock out for lunch some don't) supervisors must now know these differences while that used to be a role that was more mine as an administrator. Now I just help them and audit and review. Traci Yates Auxiliaries and Activities Business Center Payroll Coordinator
